A severe baby formula shortage in the US has sparked a national crisis, as retailers implement purchasing limits and desperate parents hunt for hours to find vital supplies.
The shortages have been blamed on pandemic-related supply chain delays and labor shortages, which were exacerbated by the temporary closure of the country’s largest infant formula plant in February, adding to the pressure on the Biden administration, which is already facing the public outrage over rising inflation.
According to data collection service Datasembly, out-of-stock rates for key brands are already at 43 percent countrywide, with 50 percent or higher in six US states.
In San Antonio, Texas, 56 percent of supplies were out of stock as of Tuesday, the highest shortage in the country.

The Biden administration on Friday announced several moves that are aimed at addressing the burden of the shortage, however, they still struggled to answer what the administration’s guidance is for a concerned parent who cannot find a formula to feed their baby. And in addition, the Biden administration had reportedly shipped “pallets” of baby formula to migrant holding facilities.
Texas Rep. Troy Nehls took to Twitter to slam Biden.
“Baby formula should go to Americans before illegals. This should not have to be said,” Nehls wrote.
However, the Grammy award-winning singer John Legend and Joe Biden-backer taunted Nehls’ comment.
“These are the ‘pro life’ folks,” Legend wrote.

Legend takes advantage of Nehls’ comment in response to the Supreme Court opinion overruling Roe v. Wade being leaked to the press. Woke celebrities and left-wing activists like legends protested against the leaked documents. The singer and his wife Chrissy Teigen announced that they will be donating to NNAF Abortion Funds and Keep Our Clinics in response.
Legend’s mockery of Nehls’ comment triggered harsh criticism on social media.
Radio host Joe Pagliarulo: “Yes, John. Baby formula in America should to American families before the families of those breaking the law to come here. Why is this controversial? When’s the last time you said something in support of our country?”

Florida GOP Rep. Kat Cammack stated on Facebook that she didn’t blame the immigrant children for having the formula, but said the Biden administration was again implementing its “America Last” agenda.
She asserted:
“It is not the children’s fault at all. But what is infuriating to me is that this is another example of the America last agenda that the Biden administration continues to perpetuate.”
“I don’t know about you, but if I am a mother, anywhere, anytime in America, and I go to my local Walmart or Target or Publix or Safeway or Kroger or wherever it may be that you shop, and you are seeing bare shelves and you are seeing signs that you are not able to get baby formula. And then you see the American government sending by the pallet thousands and thousands of containers of baby formula to the border, that would make my blood boil.”
