Apparently the faculty of California State University East Bay are being offered some financial incentives for taking anti-racism professional development training. Some of them are even receiving as much as $1,200, according to the College Fix. This is all being done in an effort to get rid of the “whiteness” on campus.
The Details
The stipends for professors and instructors will go into effect if they attend the “Anti-Racist Liberatory Pedagogy Academy” next month, according to the outlet.
This training is being offered by one Dr. G.T. Reyes, and his brochure notes that critical race theory is a “race-conscious framework that continues to examine some of the ways that whiteness continues to be normalized in our country and at California State University East Bay” according to the College Fix.
Payment and training
“Participants are going to receive a $600 participant stipend for completing this summer portion and a second $600 stipend for the completion of the follow-up work that is going to occur in the Spring Semester,” professor Michael Lee wrote in a May promotional email that was reviewed by the College Fix.
Lee — a seminar committee member — also did not respond to requests for comment from the College Fix, even though they pressed him too on just what a specific definition of “whiteness” is.
Workshop attendees are going to learn how to “incorporate anti-racist and culturally responsive approaches and components” into at least one of their syllabi for their fall semester, as the outlet noted. Participants are going to be expected to develop their courses in a manner that will “meet anti-racism objectives and promote equitable and inclusive learning.”
‘Sacred Responsibility’
The Cal State East faculty claim that they have a “sacred responsibility” to learn about these topics, as reported by the College Fix. Oh, brother. Let’s just teach all of our WHITE students that they were born racist. OH BROTHER!
“We hold the sacred responsibility to support the growth and the nurturing of this human condition,” the outlet reported that the brochure said. “We cannot take that responsibility lightly.”
What do you think about this college buying off its professors?
