Dr. Anthony Fauci has distinguished himself as the chief medical officer for President Joe Biden. If he would just stick to personal medicine and not sticking his nose in other areas, we would be fine. However, he admitted that he is just a little bit frustrated at the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, especially the difficulty he has with weighing this with “personal liberty.” Come on, Dr. Fauci, let’s not be going to the courthouse and changing your name to Josef Mengele now…
Fauci’s admission comes on the heels of U.S. Representative Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) confronting Dr. Fauci regarding when the Biden Administration was going to lift all of the pandemic-related restrictions so that “Americans could get all of their liberties back.”
Just What is it that Fauci Said?
Fauci was speaking with the (state-sponsored?) MSNBC network, and he suggested to Joy Reid those personal freedoms should have a much smaller priority than these public health measures. Reid played the part.
“Does it frustrate you and shock you, and how does it make you feel when you continue to be peppered with questions about you know, about how these restrictions are infringing on personal liberty but the 560,000 people who have passed away are not mentioned?” Reid the lapdog asked.
“Well, yes, it’s very frustrating,” Fauci said. “You know, as a public health official, I am entirely aware of just how much COVID-19 fatigue is out there. People are really, really getting tired and getting worn down by all of this. They are getting tired of these types of restrictions and they are getting tired of doing the public health guidelines.”
On the other hand, it was during that same interview that Fauci admitted that he did empathize with Representative Jordan and admitted that he too wanted to return to a normal life. However, he thinks that a “higher priority” should be placed on public health requirements:
“Congressman Jordan did take note of the people of Ohio. I do care a great deal for the people of Ohio, and I absolutely don’t want to see them getting sick or dying, especially considering that there have been 560,000 individuals who have died from this pandemic so far. But I guess we are looking at him from different perspectives. If I look at it from a public health perspective, I’m not necessarily thinking about the infringement on liberties. However, at this very moment what we need to do is get the pandemic behind us. The thing that we have in our favor is that we now have 80 million Americans fully vaccinated and over 125 million have had at least one dose. We have 3 to 4 million people getting vaccinated each day. If we could just hang on just a bit longer, these restrictions could be relaxed and people can get on with their lives.”
Understandable, and I want to believe what the doctor is saying. However, they did this same kind of propaganda during many other times where human beings have lost their rights. And now, a dangerous precedent has been set, because those in government realize that all it takes a pandemic and many ordinary people will willingly relinquish their rights. We live in perilous times indeed.
