Even though he is the former President, Donald Trump is still speaking out on behalf of the American people. He recently has unleashed a statement where he is blasting the current U.S. President for being an aid to the anti-vaccine movement instead of making sure that as many people as possible can get the vaccine. He referred to this anti-vaccine movement as “nasty pseudoscience.”
Trump aired out his anger at the decision to pause distributing the Johnson and Johnson vaccine because there have been concerns that this brand can cause some serious blood clotting incidents. The former U.S. President quoted verbatim from an editorial out of the New York Post:
“This federal pause on the J&J vaccine makes absolutely no sense. Why is the Biden team letting these insanely risk-adverse bureaucrats be in charge of the show?” was the first part of President Trump’s statement. “Just six individuals out of the seven million who got the shot tested positive for some type of blood clots. This condition is much more common in the general population, and yet they don’t stop the Pfizer and Moderna needle jabs even though they carry some risk too,” the statement said.
Trump wasn’t done yet.
“COVID cases continue to be on the rise, and so it is sheer lunacy to delay millions of people, keeping them from getting their vaccinations and continuing to feed fears among those who are vax-resistant,” Trump continued. “These scientific bureaucrats continue to fuel some really deranged pseudo-science.”
Trump’s commentary is about the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention making the decision to halt the Johnson & Johnson out of sheer caution. Several days after this pause, there was some polling performed that showed that the confidence in the Johnson & Johnson shot had collapsed from 52% to 37%.
The pharmaceutical company decided to respond to the scandal in a statement where they cautioned individuals from drawing a hasty conclusion:
“At present, we cannot determine if there is a clear causal relationship between these rare instances of blood clots and [Johnson and Johnson} COVID-19 vaccine,” the statement said.
Additionally, officials continue to insist that the other vaccines are safe, and the same poll respondents have more confidence in those other vaccines. Moreover, even Dr. Anthony Fauci agreed with the former president and showed some concern about the pause from Johnson & Johnson.
