Border Agents Have Issued A Warning “BRACE FOR IMPACT”

Border Patrol agents are left in the dark as they brace for a massive influx of illegal immigrants when Title 42, a key Trump-era expulsion policy, ends on May 11, exposing the Biden administration’s lack of preparedness and disregard for the crisis at the southern border, as reported by the Daily Caller News Foundation and an internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) memo.

Despite President Biden’s decision to set the expiration of COVID-19 emergencies, including Title 42, for May 11, agents on the frontlines have received limited guidance on handling the anticipated surge of illegal immigrants. This neglect demonstrates the administration’s failure to support those tasked with protecting our nation’s borders.

An anonymous agent working along the southern border revealed to the DCNF that they were simply told to “brace for impact” and prepare to “weather the storm.” This lack of concrete instruction further emphasizes the need for strong, conservative leadership to address the immigration crisis effectively.

Even with Title 42 in place, U.S. Customs, and Border Protection has experienced record migrant encounters, totaling more than 2.3 million in the fiscal year 2022 and over one million between October and February. The Democrats’ inability to enforce border security has only exacerbated the situation, with little hope for improvement once Title 42 is lifted.

The DCNF obtained an internal directive sent to some DHS officials, instructing agents to establish an “efficient cadence” for credible fear interviews (CFIs) to screen asylum claims and/or statements of fear of persecution, torture, or similar threats. The memo indicates the scale of the challenge agents will face, with expectations for up to 1,000 CFIs per day in short-term holding facilities along the Southwest Border.

A second agent expressed concerns to the DCNF about the capacity to handle the impending flood of migrants, stating that regular line agents have not been provided with a plan to manage the processing of large numbers of people. This lack of preparedness is a direct result of the Democrats’ ignorance and mismanagement of the border crisis.

The second agent pointed out that their facilities are not designed to accommodate large quantities of people, emphasizing that when Title 42 is lifted, they will be required to process migrants under immigration law and comply with U.S. asylum law. This challenge further highlights the inadequacy of the Biden administration’s approach to immigration and border control.

According to the second agent, the Biden administration seems oblivious to the severity of the impending influx of illegal immigrants, with thousands waiting for Title 42 to end. The agent warned that resources and manpower would be focused on processing, causing fieldwork to grind to a halt. This alarming situation underscores the urgent need for a more robust, conservative response to the crisis.

Although Republican states have challenged the Biden administration’s previous attempts to end Title 42, the latest termination of the public health emergency has not faced legal opposition. DHS predicts that the end of Title 42 could lead to up to 14,000 illegal immigrants per day at the southern border, according to a source familiar with the preparations who spoke to CNN.

In an effort to address the anticipated surge, the Biden administration announced new measures in January to allow migrants subject to the public health order an exception to enter the U.S. through a phone application called CBP One or via airport-based humanitarian parole. Despite these efforts, the administration’s lack of preparation remains evident.

In a statement from January, DHS acknowledged the preparation for the end of Title 42 and the return to processing all noncitizens under Title 8 immigration authorities. However, the department failed to respond to a request for comment, further illustrating the Democrats’ inability to address the border crisis head-on.
