In a heartbreaking incident, a Russian couple tragically caused the death of their baby boy, as they sought to “feed the baby sunlight” instead of providing him with proper nourishment. The child experienced prolonged starvation due to the strict diet imposed by the mother’s lifestyle trainer boyfriend. The boyfriend wanted the baby to rely on prana, an alleged life force, rather than food and water, leading the couple to withhold the essentials of life from their child in favor of solar exposure.
The parents, 33-year-old Oxana Mironova and her 43-year-old partner Maxim Lyutyi, have since been arrested and detained on suspicion of child torture. Those close to the family were not shocked to hear of the infant’s demise, as they were aware of Maxim’s control over Oxana and his insistence on maintaining the extreme lifestyle, which included feeding on sunlight. As the news of the child’s death spread, the baby’s extended family grieved and demanded that the parents be held accountable for their criminal actions.
According to Oxana’s mother, Galina, “He wanted to experiment on the child, feed him purely with the sun, and then advertise it to others that this is how you can eat.” She further accused Maxim of trying to establish a cult-like “sect” with strict dietary requirements.
Galina revealed that she was opposed to her daughter’s involvement in the sect and had tried to warn her about Maxim’s mental instability. However, Oxana disregarded her mother’s warnings and became increasingly detached from her family. Galina lamented that her daughter lived “like a guinea pig” under Maxim’s control.
Throughout the baby’s life, Maxim prevented Oxana from breastfeeding him. However, she would secretly nurse the child whenever she was alone with him. Despite her efforts, Maxim remained adamant in his desire for the baby to derive energy from the sunlight, rather than food and water.
As Galina recounts, “He forbade her to feed the child. Oxana told me that she secretly fed the baby, but she didn’t have enough money because he didn’t give her any. I sent Oxana money for food from my pension. She secretly bought baby food.”
While both Oxana and Maxim have been arrested, Oxana is currently under house arrest, charged with negligence. Maxim, on the other hand, accuses Oxana of neglecting the baby, even though he is the one being investigated for “child torture.” Maxim is known as a “radical raw food fanatic” in Russia.
Galina firmly believes that Maxim is at fault, stating, “It’s all his fault. It was him who forbade giving food to the child.”
Another relative of the deceased infant shared that Oxana was afraid of Maxim and wanted to leave him multiple times, but he manipulated her into staying. He had an ambition to “raise a man who only eats the sun.”
Oxana’s cousin, Olesya Nikolayeva, expressed her disbelief and outrage, saying, “He forced her not to feed the baby. Her boyfriend believed that the sun was feeding the baby. Oxana was secretly trying to breastfeed the baby, but she was very afraid of Maxim. How is it possible to feed the baby with sunlight? A baby needs his mother’s milk.”
