One cleaner’s video has gone viral on TikTok after she revealed the “hidden compartment” in toasters which makes them easy to clean – but lots of people have admitted they never knew about it.
Professional cleaner Kacie has gathered over 2.2 million views on her video as she hit out at some cleaning ‘hacks’ shared online.
You don’t get this far as a professional cleaner without knowing your fair share of tricks. Kacie knows a ton of them, and it’s these tricks that got her hundreds of thousands of followers on TikTok. One of her most successful TikToks illustrates how to clean a toaster.
She says: “There are cleaning hacks going around the internet that are not really hacks at all, they make it harder. This week I was sent one. ‘Clean your toaster with a hairdryer’. Just tip it in the bin.”
In her video, Kacie puts her hand under the toaster and pulls out a tray that collects all the crumbs to empty it – and, bizarrely, it’s blowing people’s minds.
Speaking over the video, she said: “There is something about you I need to know. When did you last clean out your toaster tray?”
Although you might already have known this, turns out lots of people didn’t.
One follower commented: “Omg I can’t believe this. I always stare at it and get annoyed because of all the crumbs.”
Another added: “There’s a TRAY?!?!?!?”
A third was astounded at how many people were not aware, writing: “OK I understand ya’ll not understanding about some things but, ya’ll didn’t know about toaster trays??? Like your house could catch on fire.”
And someone else wrote: “Never knew I even had one.”
A fellow cleaning whizz, That Clean Queen, also commented on the video saying: “I do this for clients, most don’t know it’s a thing.”
Some viewers did know there was such a thing, with the general consensus being it tends to be cleaned once a week.
