There’s A Heartbreaking Reason People Are Booking Vacations They Are Never Going On…
There’s one heartbreaking reason in particular that more and more individuals are booking vacations that they are never going to take…
Vladimir Putin continues to speed headlong into a cataclysm of his own making, pushing Russian troops and tanks into the independent democracy of Ukraine. However, he didn’t count on Americans. Even though Biden’s leadership is questionable, there are thousands of U.S. citizens that are using the almighty dollar to help these victims of war. A report from AirBNB demonstrates that there were at least 60,000 homes that have been booked in this war-torn country even though they have no intention to ever stay in them. These are nearly two million in vacation rentals that will never be reimbursed.
Yes, there have been numerous humanitarian organizations that are raising funds for victims in Putin’s war, but there have also been plenty of people who have decided to give directly to those in the attack zones by booking AirBNB and VRBO vacation rentals. These websites put people in touch with those who want to travel in style and also get a sense of the location as someone local. However, in this case, these people are simply giving money to those who are in need of support.
Naturally, Ukrainian are overflowing with gratitude for these people because of their rentals being booked by supportive Westerners. One person wrote, “Dear Jennifer, I’m just crying! I’m just crying right now! I’m shocked! I am incredibly grateful for your support! I have no words! Thank you! Thank you!”
There was another individual named Igor who confirmed to his guest a booking from March 3 to March 5th, saying, “Thank you so much, Rachel. I hope we will win and stop this horror. Irpin town, where the apartment is located, has been a hot point these last three days. Our soldiers stopped three waves of Russian tanks moving to Kyiv in Irpin. And this is our glory. I promise to use your donation for charity and provide my apartment for free accommodation for those who lost their homes. Thank you.”
One donor named Doug wrote, “I wish the world was different so I can actually stay in your beautiful country. Unfortunately, I cannot stay. Please use these funds for whatever you need. I wish I could do more for Ukraine. Slava Ukraine!”
The person who was the recipient of Doug’s generosity wrote, “You can’t even imagine how pleased we are to hear that we are not alone, tears in our eyes. I am very grateful to you for your support in this difficult time for us and all of Ukraine. Thank you very much.”
A woman named Elena wrote to her guest named Heather regarding how she booked her rental:
“Hey, Heather! Your help and your letter moved me to tears. I re-read your letter several times and weep with happiness. It has everything that is very important now: love support. It gives additional strength. I am incredibly happy to meet new friends. I invite you to our free country after the war.”
What are your thoughts on these generous Westerners helping people in Ukraine during this difficult time?
