Whoopi Goldberg asked a question and wrote a piece almost three decades ago that is now coming back to haunt her big-time!
It definitely seems like Whoopi Goldberg is being thrown a lot of punches right now.
She is facing an avalanche of criticism for her offensive comments about the Holocaust, and she placed on suspension from the View for two weeks for making those remarks.
To make matters worse, there are staffers at ABC who want to see her completely terminated for this.
Whoopi might have thought the worst of it was over, but she was sadly mistaken. Her past continues to catch up with her, and this is all thanks to an old chicken recipe of all things.
Back in 1993, Whoopi contributed to a cookbook with a racist recipe titled “Jewish American Princess Fried Chicken.”
The Anti-Defamation League criticized this recipe and the way she worded it, calling it “insulting” and “anti-semitic.”
According to the New York Post, she wrote the recipe in 1993 for the charity cookbook “Cooking in the Litchfield Hills.”
The outlet obtained a copy of the book that contained instructions to cook dishes such as Eartha Kitt’s “summer zucchini soup with nasturtium blossoms” and Diane Sawyer’s “roasted potato skins with scallion dip”.
The page for Goldberg’s dish included some unfortunate humor.
“Send chauffeur to your favorite butcher shop for the chicken (save the brown paper bag).”
“Have your cook 1) Melt equal parts oil and butter 3/4 deep in skillet over moderate heat.
“2) Put flour, seasoned with remaining ingredients, into brown paper bag. 3) Rinse chicken parts and place in bag,” the recipe said.
“Then you tightly close top of bag (watch your nails) and shake 10 times,” she wrote. “Hand bag to Cook, go dress for dinner. While you dress, have Cook preheat oven to 350 degrees and brown chicken slowly in skillet. When evenly browned, have Cook place chicken in dish in oven. Have Cook prepare rest of meal while you touch up your makeup.”
She added, “In about half an hour, voila! Dinner is served! You must be exhausted.”
According to the Daily Mail, the Anti-Defamation League stated, “It’s a lousy recipe with insensitive and anti-Semitic ingredients. Whoopi should know better.”
Yowza…
Looks like Whoopi’s comments on The View weren’t the first time that she had made unfortunate statements.
