She FAKED Her Daughter’s Illness, Now She’s Facing Heavy Karma…
She absolutely faked her daughter’s illness, but now she is over a barrel and facing some heavy karma because of it.
There was a mother who duped doctors and medical professionals into believing her daughter was suffering from a debilitating disease before the child died. This woman almost got away with murder by allegedly orchestrating the little girl’s death, but she literally spoke from the grave and now the mother has some serious explaining to do.
They arrested Kelly Turner in connection with the death of her daughter Olivia Gant, whom Turner claimed suffered from a number of diseases, including a seizure disorder and a build of fluid in the cavities of her brain. At the time of Olivia’s death, it was simply believed that she had succumbed to these conditions, but sadly, that turned out to not be the case at all.
The 7-year-old endured thousands of doctor visits and dozens of unnecessary surgeries before her mother put a “do not resuscitate” order in place and withdrew her feeding tub, eventually leading to her death. Everyone was fooled. That is, until Turner’s other child became ill as well.
“Authorities began their investigation after Turner claimed that her other teenage daughter had been diagnosed with cancer, which medical records showed was not true,” New York Post reported. “Olivia’s body was exhumed as part of an investigation and found no signs of intestinal failure, according to the indictment. Officials also found no evidence that she suffered from any of the conditions that her mother had claimed she did.”
Turner was grilled by investigators, and she spontaneously brought up the condition known as Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a psychological disorder where a parent makes up their child having a serious illness just to get attention for themselves.
“That has never been my case, like at all, whatsoever,” Turner said in the interview, according to the New York Post.
The plot thickens when you consider that Olivia’s doctors are now claiming that they swore up and down that the youngster was never terminally ill, starting from day one when the youngster was getting treatment for her “illnesses” four years prior to this.
Due to this woman faking her daughter’s illness, Medicaid also overpaid Kelly Turner $538,991 for the treatments that authorities either say the girl no longer needed or never needed at all. They charged her 43-year-old mother with 13 criminal counts, including first-degree murder, child abuse, theft, and charitable fraud.
Turner was looking at the possibility of life in prison, so she opted for a plea deal for faking her daughter’s illness. She will serve up to 16 years in prison.
Make-a-Wish Colorado told the Denver Post that they were “deeply disturbed” by this horrendous situation.
“As we seek to learn more about the circumstances that led to Olivia’s death, we fondly remember her spirit and hope that granting her wish brought some joy to her tragic life,” a spokesperson told the paper.
Olivia’s grandfather was disappointed as well, saying that if just one doctor at Colorado Children’s Hospital would have come forward with these concerns, Olivia would probably still be alive.
“That would have saved her life,” he alleged. “We’d have custody. She’d still be with us.”
