Chrissy Teigen has made a name for herself for her modeling and activism and also for her cookware products. However, unfortunately, she has now made a name for herself in another area: her bullying of a teenage celebrity.
The alleged abuse took place from 2011 to 2012 when reality star and model Courtney Stodden was just a 16-year-old girl. Because of this bullying scandal finally coming to light, Teigen has lost all of her cookware products from the shelves at Macy’s. However, that’s not the only retailer that now wants absolutely nothing to do with this “woke” celeb.
Target is also going to drop Teigen’s line because of the controversy regarding how she treated this teenage model. It was on Thursday that Fox Business had reported Target’s decision to remove Teigen’s cookware line.
“The retailer elected to pull Teigen’s Cravings Cookware line from their website,” Fox Business noted. “However, she still has three of her Cravings Cookbooks still available on this site.”
A Target spokesperson made a statement, and they said, “We have made the mutual decision last December that we were no longer going to carry her cookware line. This is also due to the fact that we continue to focus on brands that can only be found at Target.”
Target continues to insist that they had dissolved the Teigen partnership as early as December, but they still had Chrissy Teigen merchandise on their shelves as late as Mid-April.
Details
The New York Daily reported on Monday morning that all of Teigen’s products had been removed from Macy’s website after they did a search. “On Monday, we performed a cursory search on Macy’s website and we failed to find any of Chrissy Teigen’s products, especially her ‘cravings’ line. We did this after Target removed Teigen’s products on Friday,” a post reporter said.
Teigen’s collection had debuted on the Macy’s website in March 2020.
Indeed, it only took performing an archive search to discover that at least 27 of Teigen’s products were available on the store until Sunday, which is when they were inexplicably yanked off the store’s inventory. However, Macy’s has yet to make a public comment regarding their decision.
What Else?
As the fallout from this bullying scandal reaches it zenith for Chrissy Teigen, she announced that she “tried to contact” Stodden over the issue, but both Courtney and her mother claim that isn’t the case. Stodden is now 26 and still works as a model, identifying as a non-binary individual. She spoke out about the alleged bullying.
There was one such instance where Teigen was in her mid-twenties and wrote to Stodden the following message: “@CourtneyStodden My Friday fantasy: you. dirt nap. mmmmmm baby.”
There was another instance where Teigen said, “”Go. to sleep. forever” to Stodden. She also once wrote to the model this message: “Go. to sleep. forever.” There were also several occasions where Teigen told Stodden that she wanted her to kill herself and that she hated her.
When these scandals came to light, Teigen issued an apology, but she then proceeded to block Stodden on Twitter, leaving the Stodden family questioning the authenticity of the apology. Moreover, they noted that this supposedly “woke” celebrity has never attempted to contact Stodden privately either.
“I accept her apology,” Stodden wrote. “All of me wants to believe that this is a sincere apology and not just some apology for her to save her partnerships with Target and other retailers.”
Update: Apparently, Bloomingdale’s has now joined Target and Macys as the latest retailer to drop Teigen’s product line. So much for her being “woke”! Better practice what you preach, girl, because these retailers aren’t buying it!
