A man has been attacked in prison by other inmates who called him a “baby killer” after he was convicted for almost killing a baby.
Nigel Newton, 23, was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, reports the Hull Daily Mail.
The baby, whose relation to Newton has not been disclosed, was found at a property in the town of Withernsea, in a “reduced state of consciousness, having a seizure, pale, with breathing difficulties.” The infant also had bleeding inside his skull and burst blood vessels in his eyes.
A woman close to Newton’s family, who chose to remain anonymous, said Newton was attacked by three inmates. “Nigel said afterwards he had gone out in the yard because some sort of fire had broken out inside the prison,” she explained.
“That’s when a bloke came up to him saying ‘you f****** b******, you killed a baby,’ and hit him straight in the face. Then two other guys joined in and started hitting him. He is not a baby killer,” she added.
She believes the attack on him could have been prevented had prison guards been present in the yard. “We asked Nigel why the guards didn’t help and he said there weren’t any around,” she said. “They were all inside the prison dealing with the fire and the prisoners had all been left outside. The family are disgusted he has been allowed to be attacked.”
“We do not tolerate violence in our prisons and will always work closely with the police to push for the strongest possible punishment,” said a Prison Service spokeman, as quoted by MetroUK. “This incident has been reported to the police and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
Newton was taken to the hospital, where he treated for a swollen eye and a bloody mouth. He returned to prison shortly thereafter.
The infant is now in the care of his father and other family members.
While on bail for attacking the baby, Newton admitted to committed two other serious assaults, reports The Mirror.
The problem of child abuse is prevalent across all parts of the society, according to the organization Love Our Children USA. “Violence and neglect against children does not discriminate… It knows no color, no race. It happens in every city, town and state.”
And child victims often become victimizers as adults. “They can be full of anger, can mistrust in relationships, are more apt to commit road rage, and more horrific violent acts, and contribute to the high cost of our mental health and welfare programs. Their self-esteem is shattered. They can grow up to be adults who continue the cycle of violence and neglect against children.”

As I was in prison, men who hurt babies, children and kids and older children are all scum bags- they get what they deserve – the GP yard is as experience like never before. Gang territory on the outside is mild compared to inside the walls – walking the gauntlet is a true experience – True land sharks swim thru out the prison system – I walk the straight and narrow path of life now and am better off for it – but males who hurt babies or kill them I have zero empathy what and when it will happen to them – and it will – always have and always will- you may stand before the court and be sentenced for the crimes you commit, but true justice happens behind the walls of the system- some people are so screw up nothing will changed them – if more people were executed for crimes that deserve the death sentence – this would have an effect on people doing harm to others- lifers know this and the people on the row know how to take advantage of all the bleeding hearts.
