Rep. Meadows Calls For Rosenstein to “Resign Immediately” Following James Baker Testimony He Plotted to Oust Trump From Office.
Congressman Mark Meadows (R-NC) is calling for Rod Rosenstein to step down “immediately” after hearing an explosive testimony from former FBI lawyer James Baker. Baker was on Capitol Hill earlier Thursday to testify for the second time over the use of FISA warrants against Donald Trump.
Rep. Mark Meadows came from Baker’s testimony, where he spoke about Rosenstein’s plan to wear a wire and use FISA warrants to oust President Trump from office, calling for Rosenstein to “resign immediately.”
“Based on additional information we’ve learned over the last week, it is clear Rod Rosenstein should resign immediately,” Meadows stated.
Rosenstein has not been cooperating with Congress by being a no-show for an interview last Thursday, has not been upfront about his actions and has shown a lack of honesty when discussing events that relate to this case.
There is no reason for this man to continue working as Deputy Attorney General.
Based on additional information we’ve learned over the last week, it is clear Rod Rosenstein should resign immediately.
He has not cooperated with Congress, failed to be transparent about his actions, and shown a lack of candor in the way he’s characterized a number of events.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein last year spoke with DOJ and FBI officials about wearing a wire and secretly recording President Trump to be able to build a case that Trump is unfit to hold office.
Update: On Thursday evening Trey Gowdy announced that Rosenstein will be appearing in front of congress after all! His transcribed interview will happen next Wednesday. Goodlatte, Gowdy, and Ranking Members Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and Elijah Cummings (D-MD) will conduct the interview.
After being cleared for classified information the interview transcript will be available for the public to view.
