Mark Bladen, 53, was speaking with a boy who was bullying a stepdaughter when a simple expression caused him to “snap.” The bully smiled at Bladen while he was giving the boy a “good old-fashioned talking to” about calling his stepdaughter names and giving her insulting gifts, causing him to lunge at the teen.

Bladen’s stepdaughter said that the boy “called me names like gorilla and King Kong, he would buy me shaving cream, for Christmas so that I would shave,” according to a report by the Daily Mail.
Speaking about the incident, Bladen stated, “Dr. Jekyll came out” when the boy smiled at him.
Video of the incident, which took place at The Gap skate park in Brisbane, Australia, emerged showing Bladen trying to choke the bully, who was sitting on a bench. One of the boy’s friends can be heard yelling, “Get the f*** off him.”
Friends of Bladen have stood up for him. One stated that he hoped Bladen “would do it again” in defense of his “princess.”
“He’s got to stand up for his family,” said another.
One woman, who may be the bullied girl’s mother, asserted, “He did what any parent would do.”
The bully suffered bruises around his throat as well as scratches on his limbs as a result of the altercation, which was ultimately broken up by the boy’s friends.
Bladen pleaded guilty to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm. He was ordered to pay $1,000 as well as an additional $500 in compensation.
