Video Doorbell Saved Family’s Life!! [RAW VIDEO]

This was no ordinary doorbell, the armed, would-be home invader realized after it was too late.

Modern technology, a video-enabled, Internet-linked Ring doorbellsecurity system may have saved the lives of a Detroit woman and her children Saturday morning.

Detroit police say a convicted felon on parole walked up to a home on the 20000 block of Asbury in Detroit about 1:30 a.m. with an exposed “high-powered” gun. He rang the doorbell, which has a linked, motion-triggered video camera that was already recording.

When the suspect realized he was possibly being videotaped, police say he attempted to cover his face and fled the home’s porch in the direction of a suspected accomplice.

Detroit police released images of the man, who had been identified as a convicted felon banned from legally possessing a firearm.

At a press conference Monday, Detroit Police Chief James Craig said the man is on parole for armed robbery.

Police are asking the public to call Detroit Police Department’s Eighth Precinct’s Investigative Unit, 313-596-5840, 313-596-5800; or Crime Stoppers, 800-Speak Up, if they have information about the man or his whereabouts.
