We may not like it. We may pretend it’s not that bad. We may tell ourselves it’d get better. But there’s no denying the fact that things aren’t always as they seem in the Land of the Free.
Although, we observe this strange phenomenon in most major aspects of American life, it is ever more apparent in politics. Politicians don’t seem to have a mind of their own, and their actions are often at odds with the yearnings of the electorates that gave them their mandate.
The obvious, logical, yet disturbing, inference is that someone or a group (or something, for those with an exhilarating imagination) is behind the curtains. They tug at the strings of the figureheads we naively think are in charge, but are actually in servitude.
If most Americans had to pick one politician who has all the trappings of one such puppet, the name that’d consistently pop up is Hillary Rodham Clinton. Of course, she alone draws the ire as she frantically tries to paint a picture of making independent decisions and becoming formidable in the polity from all the years spent in Washington.
It is hardly convincing. But what if she dropped the hint we’ve been foraging for herself? Unlikely, but that may have happened on election night according to those who were with her as her hopes of becoming “Madam President” deflated into nothingness.
In the book Chasing Hillary: Ten Years, Two Presidential Campaigns, and One Intact Glass Ceiling, Amy Chozick, a political reporter who primarily writes about Hillary and the Clinton family details the moments when the campaign team had to relay the outcome to Hillary.
Robby Mook, Hillary’s 2016 campaign manager, was to break the news to her. “Drained and deflated,” he “labored into the hallway of the Peninsula to break the news.” Hillary’s response didn’t sound like she was surprised, unlike the mainstream media which had a meltdown as results trickled in.
In her words, and here’s where she dropped the bombshell, “I knew it. I knew this would happen to me.” “They were never going to let me be president.”
Who are they? The deep state? The Reptilians? The Illuminati maybe?
