Boy, Aged 8, Killed With a Hammer While Protecting Sister in Sexual Assault

A boy of only eight who had just spent his first day in the third grade was killed with a hammer and a knife as he tried to protect his little sister against his mother’s ex-boyfriend who was sexually assaulting her.  Dante Daniels was killed and both his mother and sister, were wounded by the mother’s former boyfriend Deandre Chaney Jr., 23.

“This guy beat my grandson with a hammer. Down to his spine. They couldn’t save his brain,” Dante’s grandmother Monique Brown told KTXL.

Chaney was found in Nevada on Sept. 2. Officers said he was wrapped in a tarp hiding in a backyard shed, according to the Sacramento Bee. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Chaney is the ex-boyfriend of Dante’s mother, 28-year-old Elizabeth Salone. At some point, investigators say the suspect turned the hammer and knife on Salone and the 7-year-old girl.

Salone sustained an eye injury during the altercation and will “probably never see out of her left eye,” Brown said.

Brown added that the 7-year-old girl “will need a lot of help.”

A Californian eight-year-old boy was beaten to death by his mother’s ex-boyfriend while he was trying to protect his younger sister from molestation.

Dante Daniels was attacked by Deandre Chaney Jr., 23, with a hammer on September 1st in South Sacremento, California. He never made it to his second day of third grade.

According to a criminal report, Chaney Jr. was engaged in the crime of committing a lewd act on Danae, Dante’s seven-year-old sister.

The suspect also used a hammer and knife on Danae, as well as their mother, 28-year-old Elizabeth Salone.

He is also said to have used lighter fluid.

‘Dante gave his heart to a 4-year-old In Southern California, so a 4-year-old lives because of [him],’ Brown added.

Along with murder and attempted murder charges, Chaney Jr. also faces a charge for lewd acts with a child under 14.

A Gofundme has been set up to raise money for the family.
