With President Donald Trump in power, we all know that he is trying to crack down on illegal immigrants. And while illegal immigrants can be from any number of countries including those in Europe and even Canada, his sights are set on those coming across the Mexican border to the south. And California has some of the worst problems with illegal immigrants mainly because they participate in the “sanctuary city” policies that started this year.

Because the acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Thomas Homan wants to deport as many immigrants as possible from the United States, he went onto Fox News to bash California for their new “sanctuary city” law that finally went into effect on January 1.

Not only does Homan think the law is wrong, he wants California lawmakers and everyday citizens to know that he is gunning for them, especially if they are harboring illegal immigrants.

“Well look, if he thinks he’s protecting the immigrant community, he’s doing quite the opposite, because if you think ICE is going away, we’re not,” Homan said of California Gov. Jerry Brown.

“There’s no sanctuary from federal law enforcement, as a matter of fact, we’re in the process now. I’m going to increase our enforcement presence in California significantly,” he said. “We’re already doing it. We’re going to detail additional enforcement assets to California.”

After laying down the strategy, Homan has a stark warning for California.

“California better hold on tight — they’re about to see a lot more special agents,” he threatened. “A lot more deportation orders in the state of California. If the politicians in California don’t want to protect their communities, then ICE will.”

Homan claims that California’s “street cops” hate the fact that there are sanctuary state laws. And as an example, Homan repeated an isolated example of how an illegal immigrant went on to murder after ICE issued a detention request.

“We’re gonna be all over the place, and we’re going to enforce the law without apology,” he continued. “What I’m also doing is working with the Department of Justice — with these sanctuary cities that knowingly shield and harbor an illegal alien in their jail and don’t allow us access. That is in my opinion, of 8 USC 1314, that’s an alien smuggling statute. I’ve asked the Department of Justice to look at this.”

Although he plans to crack down on California with all the force Donald Trump has at his disposal, Homan was left with several unanswered questions.

“Are these sanctuary cities? Can we hold them accountable? Are they violating federal law?” he asked. “So there’s more to come on that.”

Many people are confused about why California would impose sanctuary city and state laws. Because illegal immigrants are in the country without proper documentation, they are violating United States immigration laws.
