A North Carolina woman is in hot water after an investigation revealed that she had sex with three male students. Twenty-five-year-old Erin McAuliffe, a math teacher at Rocky Mount Preparatory School, was fired on May 8 following tips from administrators that she might be engaged in sexual misconduct with students. According to The Sun, McAuliffe offered to help students with tutoring outside of school hours: She also offered “after-school tutoring to help struggling students improve their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.” McAuliffe also worked to “develop alternate enrichment activities and modifications in student programs to increase student understanding.”
McAuliffe’s Linkedin profile states that she has worked at Rocky Mount since August of 2016. Her resume, which is uploaded on Linkedin, reads: I graduated with a BS in Mathematics and a minor in History and am searching for a role at a fast-paced company and ever growing company where I can advance my career, leveraging the skills I learned in college.
To that end, I have been pursuing roles in finance and data analytics to strengthen the foundation of my future. Multiple students and members of the faculty at Rocky Mount were interviewed over the course of a month to look into the allegations against McAuliffe. According to reports, McAuliffe has been fully cooperative with law enforcement. WITN reported on what she is being charged with: Rocky Mount police have charged Erin McAuliffe with three counts of sexual activity with a student and one count of indecent liberties with a minor. One of McAuliffe’s victims was sixteen the other two were seventeen. It’s unclear what type of sentencing she might be facing. But North Carolina has some of the toughest laws on sex crimes in America. At the very least, McAuliffe will have to register as a sex offender for 25 years.
