In a heart-wrenching press release, Tarek and Christina El Moussa have confirmed our worst fears.
From the outside looking in, you would wrongly assume that HGTV’s famous “Flip or Flop” couple, Tarek and Christina El Moussa have perfect lives. But that assumption couldn’t be more wrong.
Hand-in-hand, the El Moussas have overcome a lot together: bankruptcy, a near-fatal cancer scare, multiple failed rounds of IVF, and a miscarriage.
But now — just days before Christmas — multiple sources have confirmed our worst fears: the flawless, fun-loving couple has announced that they’re separating.
“Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage,” the El Moussas revealed. “We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution. There was no violence and no charges were filed.”
The El Moussas, who only acknowledged their martial conflict as an “unfortunate misunderstanding” in their separation statement, had an altercation involving a gun back in May, according to TMZ.
TMZ reported that on that fateful spring day, 11 deputies and one helicopter arrived at the couple’s Orange County home after receiving “a call of a possibly suicidal male with a gun.” Witnesses told cops they saw Tarek grab a gun from his safe, run out the back door and flee down a hiking trail. Shortly after, Christina was seen running out of the house crying and shaking.
Within minutes, the helicopter located Tarek and deputies told him to drop his weapon. Tarek complied and told deputies he only wanted to “blow off some steam” and brought the gun to ward off snakes and mountain lions. Officers returned to the El Moussa residence and ended up seizing 5 guns, including an AR-15.
The El Moussas told People they sought counseling to “sort out” the relationship but have since decided to separate while evaluating “the future of our marriage.”
The nearly perfect, all-American couple got married in 2009 and share two children together, a daughter named Taylor and a son named Brayden. And in the midst of their separation, the couple reveals that the children will remain their biggest priority.
“….During the process [of separation], we are committed to our kids and being the best parents we can be. We will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together.”
As far as their TV show goes, a rep for HGTV confirmed that “Flip or Flop” will remain on the air in an emailed statement to The Huffington Post:
“We admire and appreciate Tarek and Christina’s great work on ‘Flip or Flop.’ When it comes to matters related to their own family, we respect their privacy and honor any decision that works best for them and their children. HGTV is currently airing episodes of ‘Flip or Flop’ and the series will continue production as scheduled.”
Although it sounds like the couple intends to try and rebuild their marriage, multiple outlets are now claiming that “split” means they will get divorced.
Despite what many news outlets are reporting, we can only hope and pray that God heals Tarek and Christina’s marriage.
“God can restore what is broken and change it into something amazing. All you need is faith.” Joel 2:25
Marriage is hard, please pray for the El Moussas. Pray for Tarek and Christina’s marriage. Pray for their children. They need our support! Please share if you agree.
