Fox News reports the Department of Homeland Security is investigating a potential data breach that may have exposed the identities and contact details of tens of thousands of DHS personnel. Sources told Fox News the incident could affect about 40,000 employees and contractors—roughly 10,000 from ICE and records tied to more than 20,000 Customs and Border Protection staff, including Border Patrol.
What Fox News says was exposed
According to sources cited by Fox News, the leaked dataset includes names, job titles, office locations, and, in some cases, phone numbers and emails. Fox News also reported that multiple sources confirmed the authenticity of portions of the data.

Undercover identities reportedly in the dump
Fox News said it independently verified that the leak includes the names of several undercover ICE agents operating in different parts of the country.
Who claims responsibility
The leak site Distributed Denial of Secrets said it posted the information. Fox News reported that a self-described anti-fascist hacking group calling itself the “Department of Peace” claimed responsibility for obtaining the data.
DHS response
“DHS is aware of a potential breach and is actively working to address the situation swiftly and effectively,” a department spokesperson told Fox News. The spokesperson added, “We take all security threats against our employees and officers seriously and will work to ensure all are properly protected. We will update the public when more information is available.”

What we don’t know yet
Fox News’ reporting attributes many details to unnamed sources. The full scope, source, and method of the breach—and the complete authenticity of the dataset—were not established in the reporting provided. DHS described the situation as a potential breach.
