Teacher Who Had Threesome With Student Posts Unbelievable Selfie After She Walks Free [PHOTO]

A Louisiana teacher who admitted to having sex with a 16-year-old student took to Instagram to express her joy only hours after being spared prison time.

Former Destrehan High School teacher Shelley Dufresne, 32, made a plea deal in which she was spared jail time and does not have to register as a sex offender, WVUE reports.

The former teacher pleaded guilty to obscenity instead of the original charge of carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

Dufresne was originally facing three years in prison before the deal was made. A judge instead sentenced her to 90 days in a mental health facility and three years probation.

If Dufresne fails to fulfill these terms, she will serve 90 days in jail in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana.

Shortly after her sentencing, Dufresne took to Instagram to post what appears to be some sort of victory selfie.

In the picture, she is smiling and the caption reads: “my mood today,” followed by three smiley faces.

It is unclear if Dufresne was referring to her plea deal, but it certainly appeared that way to users commenting on it.

“She needs to be somber. I don’t think this was a joyous day at all,” Destrehan resident Lisa Young told WVUE. “I think for sure she would have had to register as a sex offender.”

Fox 8 legal analyst Joseph Raspanti said these types of plea deals are common.

“I’ve had many clients in this position and I’ve negotiated down to something like this,” Raspanti said. “The main thing is she didn’t want to be someone who had to be a sex offender reporter for the rest of her life. That was the big benefit she got out of this.”

The 16-year-old student Dufresne had sex with said the sex was consensual. Investigators said the incident happened sometime between Aug. 22 and Sept. 22 at a home in Montz, Louisiana.

Dufresne isn’t in the clear just yet. Her teaching license was revoked and a separate case in Jefferson Parish is still pending in which she and another teacher, Rachel Respess, 24, are accused of having a threesome with a student in another town.
