Especially in times when nothing seems to be going your way, and you’ve exhausted your patience completely, it’s easy to feel like your parenting skills are below par at a moment.
And a question that probably all asked for after a particularly rough day is that “Am I a bad parent?”
Well, there are some things that are generally considered “bad” by anyone.
Most of us associate poor parenting with the most severe and harmful behavior traits—physical abuse, neglect, emotional abuse, and sexual abuse.
But in addition to child abuse and neglect, there are other things parents might say or do that could harm a child inadvertently.
There are different types when it comes to disciplining Children, in most homes, parents use the “you’re grounded” technique, preventing their children from going out to their room. However, that’s not the case with a mother from Delhi.
Calling someone else a “bad parent” isn’t something to jump to base on a difference in beliefs or parenting style, but in Delhi’s Khajuri Khas area, a mother just put her 5-year-old girl on the terrace in the scorching sun for not doing her homework.
A video was taken by a neighbor who uploaded the video, the horrifying video shows the little girl writhing in pain, her hands tied behind her back, and her legs bound at her ankles, as the scorching sun hits her. During this, the child kept screaming.
After the cruel video went viral, the mother, who resides in Delhi, India, has been called “cruel” for torturing her five-year-old child.
Police then jumped into action to investigate the incident; they said that the incident occurred on June 2, 2022, as the child’s mother acknowledged that she had really given the punishment.
The police registered a case against the mother. Police say that the child who was in first grade was not doing her homework. Although the mother claimed to have explained a lot to do her homework, the child disagreed. She, therefore, bound the hands and feet and forced the child to lie in the sun out of rage.
However, the child’s father, Raj Kumar who works as a tailor said that he was not in the house when the abuse happened and that he only found out about it after his own father called to inform him of what his wife had done while he was out getting his bicycle fixed.
“I received a call from my father that my wife had given this severe punishment to our daughter and that I should come home,” Kumar said.
“When I got home, my father told me he came home and saw the girl tied on the terrace, and freed her.”
“My wife got angry and punished her. When my father told me, I scolded my wife a lot that day, but the next day, a relative from our village sent me the video and I scolded my wife again.”
But Sunil, the victim’s uncle, expressed his fury about the child’s mother’s punishment of her for failing to do her homework; he even added that the mother will always beat her kids even in small things. “If somebody from the family tries to meddle in between, she says that it is their kids and only she has rights over them. She was not like this before. She has become like this in the past two to three years,” Sunil said.
