He Sat Down At A Waffle House And Would Not Leave, Then His Bill Came And The Waitress Broke Down…

Fantasy football leagues. It’s the stuff dreams and heartbreaks alike are made of.

Well, even though a fantasy football victory was crushed for one Georgia man, Michael Carsley, he wound up making the day for Mosammat Shumi, a long-time Waffle House server in the Atlanta area.

32-year-old Michael said that he and his buddies made a bet playing a game of fantasy football and he ended up being the big loser of that bet. His punishment…he had to spend 24 hours inside a Waffle House and could only leave under special conditions.

The only way Michael could leave is: for every waffle he ate, he could leave one hour earlier. Michael filmed himself live on Facebook as he endured the punishment and ate as many waffles as he could.

“Much bigger than I thought in my head. The first 7 really took me down hard,” Michael told WSB-TV.

His waitress ended up bringing him a total of 18 waffles before he bowed out and was qualified to leave. During the time he was live streaming, he was accepting donations and raised $1040.

Once he finished eating the 18 waffles and staying there all that time, he decided to give the $1040 he raised to the waitress as a tip, on top of his $49 meal.

The heartwarming moment of Shumi receiving the tip was all caught on Michael’s live stream.

“I wanted to give you this and to say thank you very much,” Michael is heard telling Shumi while handing her the generous tip.

The waitress was in total shock at first but then put her hand over her face as she got emotional over the gift.

“Thank you very much,” she says towards the camera, her hands together in prayer. “Oh my god, really? Are you for real?” she continues, before breaking down in tears.

“We wanted to do something impactful for someone today,” Michael says to her.

“I can’t believe this,” she says through tears.

“It was priceless. It was one of the better feelings I’ve ever had,” Shumi told CNN. “I’m still in shock,” she continued. I talked to my family, to everybody.”

Michael didn’t just make the best of his situation with a good attitude. He went above and beyond and found a way to turn his own misfortune into a blessing for someone else.

Michael later added that “All around, it was a spectacular thing. The punishment itself was torture, but the outcome of everything was well worth it.”
