A young mother’s family vacation takes a shocking turn when a theme park’s security guard confronts her over attire, sparking a debate on decency and personal freedom.
Bailey Breedlove faced a distressing situation after a security guard at an Oklahoma Six Flags theme park confronted her for wearing shorts deemed “too short.”
Breedlove, who has autism, was taken aback when the officer demanded she cover up or leave the park for exposing her legs. She wrote on Facebook, “My experience there was traumatizing. I purchased tickets and parking online, which was a lot of money,” and that her family had initially entered the park without issue at 5 pm.

Breedlove and her family were having a great time enjoying the rides and attractions, believing they had found a fantastic vacation spot in Oklahoma City. But around 7 pm, a park police officer scolded her daughter for rolling down a hill on her heels while holding Breedlove’s hand. The officer then pursued Breedlove, grabbed her shoulder, and told her that her shorts were “too short.”

Faced with an ultimatum, Breedlove tried to walk away to her boyfriend, as her autism makes it difficult for her to converse with officers. The officer persisted, yelling and calling for backup, and a Six Flags manager appeared, only to begin body-shaming Breedlove.

The situation had a terrible impact on Breedlove, who found it hard to cope with the mounting tension due to her diagnosis. She was told she needed to buy new shorts, although she was under no obligation to purchase anything against her will. When she agreed to buy new shorts so her family could continue their vacation, she was threatened with criminal trespassing, pushed, and escorted toward the entrance.

As Breedlove and her family tried to leave, the female officer blocked their exit, pulled out handcuffs, and demanded Breedlove’s ID. When they asked for probable cause, the answer was “because they are the police.” At this point, they started recording the incident. Breedlove requested information from the officers, but they refused to provide their badge numbers. She was terrified she might be arrested over her shorts, which left her 11-year-old daughter in tears, fearing her mother’s arrest.

Breedlove argues that Six Flags’ policies are vague and confusing, and their body-shaming and discrimination are unlawful. She believes she deserves a refund for the trauma her family experienced over a pair of shorts on a hot day.
Stating that she will not let the issue go since it’s 2021 and not middle school, Breedlove has contacted the Oklahoma police department and an attorney. Although she now faces a five-year ban, she asserts that she won’t be returning to any Six Flags parks if this is how they treat women and law-abiding citizens and visitors, adding that they should be ashamed of themselves.
