She Was On A Classic Sitcom, But She Carried A Dark secret For Decades That…

Who would have taught that this former teenage star who battled years of addiction is capable of staying married to the same person for more than three decades.

Young, bubbly, and perfect Marcia Brady was one of the most admired cast members of the iconic series “The Brady Bunch.”

Maureen McCormick became famous for Marcia’s role and stayed on the sitcom for five years. On-screen, her life cushioned on perfection, but in reality, she was nowhere close to being perfect.

Sadly, “The Brady Bunch” star followed in the path of so many other actors who became very famous at a very young age. This was a path that included illegal drugs, particularly cocaine.

She first tried cocaine a year after the family sitcom went off the air. Cocaine made her feel “sane” and that “life was perfect.”

The actress reportedly had a very serious drug habit. In fact, she was so addicted to the drug that she once let someone film her in a very intimate situation in order to obtain cocaine.

She reportedly liked the drug so much that she was addicted for six years after her first experience with it. During this time, she would use whatever tool she could find to take the drug. She also had a few go-to albums she liked to listen to while on cocaine.

“Oh, definitely the Eagles, ‘Hotel California.’ That was a big album for me in those days,” McCormick said. “Let’s see … Carole King, James Taylor. And I loved Janis Ian. Oh my God, I used to just listen to her for hours. I thought she was just awesome. Yup, those were the records that were big with me then.”

Fortunately, the actress was able to overcome her substance abuse issues. Key to her winning that battle were “The Brady Bunch” star’s parents.

“My mom and dad, they almost turned me into the cops,” she said in 2018. “They were at their last … (because) they had been trying for years and knew something was going on, and I was pretty sneaky, and I could hide very, very well.”

However, McCormick said in 2009 that she still battled the reminders of her drug addiction years after she stopped using cocaine.

According to AWM:

But she has since turned her life around and lives with her husband and 29-year-old daughter, Natalie, in their beautiful home outside of Los Angeles.

In 2007, McCormick appeared on Celebrity Fit Club, on VH1, where she dropped 38 pounds from her tiny 5-foot, 3-inch frame. She packed all the weight back on again two years later only to lose it again in 2011.

When she first met her husband, she “just had a feeling about” him. But when he learned about her love for drugs, he lost a lot of interest in her. He knew that if she kept up her drug-fueled life, she would not be alive for much longer.

He inspired her to be better.

She said, “We’ve been married now 33 years. I just had a feeling that I could trust him with my whole heart and that he was so honest and such a beautiful, beautiful human being.”
