Just because two exes finalize a divorce doesn’t mean that they are no longer in each other’s lives. This was the case when Eileen Murray parted ways with her husband of 15 years, Mike Weirsky.
During the majority of their time together, Eileen was the breadwinner of the family, while Mike stayed home, and eventually, this dynamic led to divorce. Just a few months after their divorce was finalized, Mike won a staggering $273 million in the lottery.
Mike purchased the ticket at the exact same QuickChek convenience store where he had proposed marriage to Eileen all those years before. It turned out to be a lucky break for the recently divorced New Jersey man because he became the big Mega Millions winner.
However, money can’t buy happiness after all as Eileen no longer has any interest in her ex-husband even though he had just won the lottery.
“He’s not appealing to me all of a sudden because he has this money,” the 53-year-old told New York Post. “I’m not going after anything. I have morals. I know what I’ve worked for and it’s everything that I have,” she added.
This crazy story began nearly 20 years ago when Mike Weirsky decided to get down on one knee and ask for his girlfriend Eileen Murray’s hand in marriage. She unequivocally said yes and it wouldn’t take long before they tied the knot.
It seemed like a match made in heaven and this was undoubtedly the most important moment in their lives. However, it wasn’t just how he proposed to her that added a sharp twist to this story.

Eileen simply isn’t interested in ever getting back together with Mike or having a single dime of his lottery winnings. All she wants now is to stop paying him alimony when he obviously doesn’t need her “pocket change.”
