President Joe Biden never failed to disappoint Americans.
Joe Biden’s approval rating has always been pulling down over the new year, his approval rating was some of the worst for a second-year president, and the first polling from 2023 shows the share of Americans who strongly disapprove of him has even increased! Making Biden the lowest of any Democrat president in 44 years!
Biden’s numbers drastically change into the New Year. As inflation rises, the immigration crisis, and the state of the economy, this sentiment has surpassed the nation’s worries.
With the economy’s problems over the past year as well as their aspirations for the future, the poll results are indicative of how Americans are struggling to cope.
With 21% of citizens citing it compared to 15% last year, the ‘government/poor leadership’ has risen to become the most pressing problem today. Since 2020, inflation and economic concerns have declined. Compared to only 15% for inflation and 10% for the economy this year, Last year, 16% chose ‘inflation’ and 16% chose ‘economy.’ Unifying the country remained unchanged at 6%, while Immigration saw an increase in concern, rising 3 percentage points from 8% in 2020 to 11%, as the survey found.
The latest sign of trouble for Biden comes as his administration looks to tackle a wide range of economic and political problems ahead.
Over the past year, both President Biden (41%) and Congress (21%) have seen little change in their approval ratings. With Democrats list inflation (11%), economy (9%), race relations (9%), unifying the country (8%), then environment (6%) as their main worries, while Republicans, inflation and economy remain top issues at 18%, followed by other concerns such as morality/ethics/family at 6%, and federal budget deficit at 5%. As Experts suggest that citizens’ views may be affected by recent changes in inflation which fell from 7.5% last January to 6.5% in December.
45% of Americans think poorly of the current economic situation, while 38% think it is fair. Only 15% of people think it’s decent, a bare minimum improvement from 2% last year who gave it an exceptional rating. Additionally, 64% of people still think that now is a good time to get a good job, which is somewhat more than what was recorded last year when 62% of people believed so. This is despite the fact that 72% of people think that their financial situation will get worse over time.
