In a stinging criticism of the forces behind the rioting that has stained Atlanta in recent days, former president Donald Trump called out George Soros.
A Georgia state trooper was allegedly shot last week by an activist participating in a long-running demonstration against a police training center in nearby DeKalb County. Assaulters fired back, killing the activist. Six persons were detained as a result of demonstrators setting a police car on fire last Saturday.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has signed an executive order putting 1,000 troops of the Georgia National Guard on standby in case they are needed to maintain order due to widespread fears that violence would break out again.
The protesters are “extremists” who “wanted to kill people,” Trump said.
Trump made this statement on Friday in a video that was both posted on his Truth Social platform and widely distributed on YouTube. The former President said, “As always, it’s hard-working, law-abiding citizens of all backgrounds who pay the price for this violent radical left extremism, sponsored by George Soros, it seems.”
Leftist oligarch Soros is renowned for generously supporting liberal causes.
Soros was one of those supporting Fani Willis, the district attorney for Fulton County, as reported by Law Enforcement Today. Willis reportedly stated this week that she is close to making a decision over whether or not to indict Trump for his interactions with Georgian officials after the 2020 election, the New York Daily News reports.
Fulton County includes Atlanta. Trump claimed that forces outside of Atlanta were complicit in the defiance and devastation there.
In the video, Trump said:
“The violent and vicious riots in Atlanta carried out by the anti-police radical left anarchists are an abomination, and it has to stop.”
“These extremists smashed windows, set fire to a police cruiser, destroyed businesses, laid waste to downtown Atlanta, and were even found carrying explosives. They wanted to kill people; they didn’t quite have that opportunity, but they would have and they wouldn’t have lost any sleep over it.”

Liberal prosecutors will make it difficult to punish the guilty, Trump claimed. Trump’s remarks follow a report in the New York Post that said Soros had spent approximately $40 million to elect prosecutors in 75 carefully chosen cities around the country.
Trump said in the video, “Unfortunately, nothing will happen to most of these rioters because of the Marxist prosecutors who have seized control of the justice system in Atlanta, just like they are in New York, just like they have in other places.”
And that the only way to deal with violence is to take severe measures, Trump said.
He said that “The rioters who attack our wonderful police officers and destroy so many lives must be punished to the fullest extent of the law.”
“If Marxist prosecutors betray their oaths and refuse to protect our citizens, I will not hesitate to send in federal law enforcement to restore peace and public safety,” according to Trump, if he wins the presidency in 2024.
Atlanta is not the only city where crime has seized control, Trump said
“Crime is up by 50, 60, 70 and 100 percent in these radical left Democrat cities. We will restore law and order in America,” he said.
