A TikTok influencer has died while skydiving in Toronto after her reserve parachute did not have enough time to inflate, according to reports.
21-year-old Tanya Pardazi was an up-and-coming TikTok influencer when she jumped on the solo course on Aug. 27, gaining 95,000 followers. She was a student at Skydive Toronto Inc., a school that requires ground training before solo dives.
Pardazi had undergone the training, according to her final TikTok, in which she mentioned attending a skydiving class.

The former Miss Teen Canada finalist allegedly opened her parachute at too low an altitude, according to a statement from the skydiving school. When the parachute didn’t inflate, she fell to her death. Pardazi was then transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Pardazi was a student of philosophy at the University of Toronto, Scarborough. She was also a part of the university’s cheerleading team, who paid a tribute to her after her untimely demise. Pardazi also competed in the Miss Canada beauty pageant in 2017 and became one of the semi-finalists of the event.

On her TikTok account, she shared videos on several topics relating to psychology, aliens, the history of art, and more. The last video that she shared on her TikTok was on August 22 in which she talked about her uncontrollable urge to solve a puzzle that she had been working on for two days. In fact, at the start of the video, Pardazi also mentioned that she went skydiving a couple of days ago.

Skydive Toronto released an official press statement in which the company stated that Tanya “released a quickly rotating main parachute at a low altitude without the time/altitude required for the reserve parachute to inflate.”

According to AWM:
Pardazi’s death has sent shockwaves through the TikTok community. Her friend, Melody Ozgoli, told CTV News Toronto that she died during her first attempt at skydiving alone.
“Tanya had an interest in anything that was new an adventurous,” Ozgoli said. “Life was too boring for her, and she was always trying to do something adventurous. She really lived every second to the fullest.”
Her friend added, “This is the biggest shock to us. It’s very hard to process. It’s been a couple of days, but we still don’t believe it.”
