A 15-year police veteran from Baltimore, Maryland, was taken to the hospital after the policeman was splashed with bleach as he attempted to break up the altercation, and wanted to bring peace to an escalating situation when he saw the students fighting one another at the Achievement Academy.
The cop worked for the school and was well-known to the majority of students, but when attempting to break up the dispute the police officer found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.
To keep things secure and safe for the students and staff, the school is trying to figure out how to handle the situation and learn how quickly they can get the veteran police officer back into the school. In the wake of the attack, the cop wasn’t the only victim of the bleach onslaught, however, in the attack’s immediate vicinity, a hall monitor also received bleach in their eyes, necessitating an emergency department visit.
During an interview with the Baltimore Sun regarding the bleach incident, Sgt. Clyde Boatwright, president of the city school police union, confirmed the identity of the police officer in question, “He’s an experienced, highly decorated officer who is almost a legend in the Northeast Baltimore community, he is known to almost anybody who went to middle school or high school in that area because he’s so well-liked,” Boatwright said.
An eighteen-year-old who sprayed bleach on the police officer has now been arrested by the authorities.
According to school spokesperson Edie House-Foster, the girl, who will be tried as an adult due to her age, was charged with three counts of first-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
The reason for the bleach attack is still under investigation by the school, but it may have something to do with the fact that the police officer was breaking up a dispute. However, nothing has been confirmed as of yet, and the school is still looking into what caused this heinous incident. The officer is still recuperating from his wounds, and it’s feasible that he will eventually visit the school again.
“We need him back,” Boatwright said. “Baltimore needs him.”
Here are some comments from folks online about the incident:
“She is horrible. The ones she threw the bleach on could have been blinded. Hopefully, they will be okay. It sounds like this was premeditated, and she meant to do harm to someone. She needs to be prosecuted as an adult with the max they can give her. She also needs therapy while locked up to hopefully get rid of the ugly she carries. She could hurt so many people. This is terrible.”
“Sad that kids aren’t being taught that all actions have consequences. This child knew this was wrong and extremely dangerous. She needs to face the consequences of her actions.”
