It’s always inspiring to see kids taking care of animals. Kids are often incredibly empathic, and it’s wonderful when they show that sensitivity to animals.
And these teens are the perfect example of this. They knew just what to do when they found a little animal in need.
Two teenagers, Jaydon Pettitpas and Aidan Hart were hanging out when they spotted what appeared to be a creature covered in foam in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. The youngsters were shocked to see that the object resembled a monster from a Hollywood film. It was initially unclear when they walked over to check on the strange creature because it was simply not moving, but they later discovered that it was in desperate need of assistance.
Pettipas and Hart were immediately moved to compassion by the injured species and realized that unless someone took immediate action, he wouldn’t survive. They quickly entered a grocery store, snatched up a milk container they might use to contain the creature, and then started making calls to friends and family to ask for help.
Since Aidan’s mother shared the same passion for animals that her son did, she pushed him to take the animal right away to a veterinarian.
“After calling a few people for help, one of the boys’ moms finally called me at the vet clinic,” Dr. Melanie Eagan, owner of the St. George Veterinary Clinic said.
The group called Eagan and then drove over 21 miles to the St. George Veterinary Clinic to deliver the animal.

Eagan quickly put the animal to sleep and then set about the difficult task of using rubbing alcohol and a flea comb to remove all the insulation foam from its tiny body. When her efforts actually paid off, she was astounded.
The foamy creature was a squirrel, but the two teenagers had a hard time believing what they had seen.

The insulation foam that was intended to fill gaps in homes had somehow gotten onto the squirrel. The squirrel may have accidentally run into the wet substance; as it dried all over him, the poor little guy was immobile, but thanks to the kindness of these teenagers, the squirrel was saved.
“He was pretty excited to get out of the clinic and up a tree,” Eagan said. “If it hadn’t been for those teenage boys, he would not have lived.”
This little squirrel was well-cared for by these teenagers, and because of them, he was able to receive the assistance he required to survive. What a nice bunch of kids.
