They Thought This Little Kid Had Leprosy, What It Ended Up Being Is….

After long periods, it’s possible for the skin to get so used to steroids that it struggles without them.

For one young family, an eczema outbreak developed into a nightmare “steroid addiction.”

Mom Savannah LaQua, 25, mistakenly believes that her 2-year-old son Boaz LaQua had leprosy because the little boy suffered such severe eczema.

Savannah began applying the cream to treat mild eczema when her son Boaz was just four months old. She continued the treatment for more than a year. However, Boaz is currently experiencing a painful reaction to the steroidal cream.

And about six months ago, when Savannah took the boy off the eczema cream, he started to get weeping sores and scabs all over his tiny body. He was left bedbound for weeks at a time due to his skin; the young boy was forced to sleep with socks taped to his hands so he wouldn’t scratch his skin.

Painful-looking pictures show Boaz’s entire body covered in red and angry open wounds with piles of flaked skin covering his clothes.

Savannah had no other choice but to quit giving the medication because the boy’s skin was becoming extremely sensitive to other topical creams due to the eczema cream. Her son’s irritated skin is still healing, despite the fact that she was able to locate a doctor who prescribed steroidal eczema cream that didn’t cause him this much discomfort upon withdrawal.

In the hopes of warning others who may be dealing with eczema, Savannah has come forward to share her son’s horror story.

“It can happen to anybody, and it’s really scary because I know you want your children healthy, but at what cost? I feel like this was done on purpose – maybe not by the doctor who prescribed the eczema cream – but it happened for a reason,” she said.

Since Boaz completely stopped using eczema cream, his skin condition has significantly improved, and he is currently in remission. Boaz’s story serves as a reminder of how powerful eczema can be.

“I feel like I’m going to look for a more holistic approach because the eczema cream has been scientifically proven as something that can cause damage,” Savannah said. “So why is it ok? Why does my son have to go through this?”

“About two months after we completely stopped using the cream, he started to get red rashes and bumps, and they were just getting worse every day”

“It got to the point where he would be bedridden for a week at a time because he was covered in sores across his entire body. He was struggling to walk because his body was hurting so bad. It was horrible to see, the worst thing I’ve ever been through.

“People said he looked like he had leprosy because he was covered in them, and his skin was scaly and rough.

“It was so stressful because we didn’t know much about Topical Steroid Withdraw, also we didn’t know what was going to happen, whether he would recover or lose his life, We had to tape socks to his hands because he was constantly scratching. It was like chronic itchiness, and there were open sores.”
