As he previously promised, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said he would send illegal immigrants to progressive “sanctuary cities” earlier this summer – and now, according to reports, he’s fulfilling that promise.
After he’s a man of word.
DeSantis has sent two planes of illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, following through on his plan to send illegal aliens to Democrat-controlled areas on Wednesday afternoon.
A statement from the Governor’s office confirmed the move: “Yes, Florida can confirm the two planes with illegal immigrants that arrived in Martha’s Vineyard today were part of the state’s relocation program to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations.”
A spokeswoman for DeSantis continued: “States like Massachusetts, New York and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’ and support for the Biden administration’s open border policies.”
Video showing the arrival of the planes was obtained by Fox News, which also reported a statement from the governor’s office. Roughly 50 migrants, including children, arrived at Martha’s Vineyard Airport in Massachusetts.
The effort appears to be part of Republican states’ efforts to bring increased attention to the migrant crisis, most notably seen by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), who has bused migrants to the Democratic-run cities of New York, Washington, D.C., and Chicago.
The Florida governor said back in April that the state budget had allocated $12 million to the Florida Department of Transportation, naming Delaware and Martha’s Vineyard specifically as possible migrant relocation destinations.
Last November, DeSantis reported that dozens of migrant flights had landed in Florida per the Biden regime’s instructions. The Governor threatened to send the newly-arrived illegal immigrants to Delaware or Martha’s Vineyard.
“It is not the responsibility of Floridians to subsidize aliens to reside in our state unlawfully; we did not consent to Biden’s open-borders agenda,” said DeSantis’ office.
Jesse Watters addressed the transportation of immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard in his Fox News segment, Jesse Watters Primetime, joyfully pointing out that the Obamas, Oprah, Beyonce, and more of America’s Left-wing elites have multi-million dollar vacation homes.
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo joined Watters on the show, saying, “You know, these are all sanctuary cities until [the illegal immigrants] are in their sanctuary. I doubt [the residents] will embrace [the immigrants].”

Island officials and emergency management have gathered to deal with the influx of migrants, the majority of whom seem to be from Venezuela.
Dem Senator Julian Cyr (Mass.), obviously took issue with this relocation, accusing the GOP lawmakers of “capitalizing on the difficult circumstances that these families are in and contorting that for the purposes of a ‘gotcha’ moment.”
Martha’s Vineyard, situated just south of Cape Cod, is a high-end neighborhood that many conservatives see as synonymous with liberal elites. Former President Barack Obama purchased a nearly $12 million mansion there, stirring controversy in 2021 when he held a 60th birthday bash at the property during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The migrants told translators that they were from Venezuela and were flown in from Texas. Most didn’t know where they were, the reporter added.
Meanwhile, the immigrants are in a beautiful, safe location and are being given food and water. It doesn’t sound like they are suffering too much considering the horrible state of their origin country.
