Liberal LeBron James Movie Cut From Big Time Streaming Platform

LeBron James’ House Party revival has also been abandoned, along with Warner Bros. pulling six films from HBO Max exclusively for streaming.

When Warner Bros. Discovery on Tuesday, announced it was scrapping the release of the HBO Max original film Batgirl, the internet went crazy. Sadly, it appears the movie will be lost in the company’s continual cost-cutting efforts.

Now, in addition to Batgirl, the studio has also seemingly scrapped the release of the House Party reboot from LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s Springhill Entertainment.

The movie was removed from HBO Max’s schedule before its original July 28 premiere date, and no new date has been specified.

The reboot, which was produced by the NBA star and Maverick Carter, his co-host on The Shop, was revealed in 2018, with SpringHill Entertainment and New Line Cinema slated to release the movie. The Grammy Award-winning director Calmatic’s movie House Party was about two high school students who host a party at James’ house and steal his championship rings. The script was also written by Atlanta co-writers Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori.

“It’s an entirely new look for a classic movie,” James told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018. “Everyone I grew up with loved House Party. To partner with this creative team to bring a new House Party to a new generation is unbelievable.”

“It’s fun, it [was] an honor when I got the opportunity to produce it [and] reboot the whole movie,” James shared with ESPN a year later. “I had so much fun as a kid watching that movie and when I was growing up as a youngster, I was like, ‘Man, I hope I have an opportunity to go to one of these house parties where it’s just a bunch of fun, joking around, a lot of dancing… People just having a good time.”

Not sure who truly wanted a House Party reboot, but even so, this may come as a disappointment to some. Perhaps this change might usher in a new era of cinematic encounters.

However, in a report by the Conservative Brief:

“This comes as Warner Brothers Discovery has placed Chris Licht in charge of changing the direction of the network from a hyper-partisan, liberal bias to straight news, though it appears that transition is not done.

Three months after Mr. Licht’s appointment, the network is now faced with serious concerns about how it can continue to grow its business in light of the demise of its moonshot streaming service and the structural erosion of traditional TV.

CNN’s profitability is predicted by S&P Global Market Intelligence to fall to $956.8 million this year. According to three people familiar with the network’s operations, that would be the first time since 2016 that the network had a profit below $1 billion.”

The outlet added that “CNN’s initial 2022 profitability target, according to two individuals familiar with the network’s operations, was $1.1 billion, which Mr. Licht is on pace to fail by more than $100 million. However, according to a second source with knowledge of the situation, Mr. Licht was on track to meet a profitability goal of approximately $950 million for the year as the network’s initial budget did not take into account losses related to the rollout of the CNN+ streaming service.”

But Licht said he had not heard about any cuts.

“No one has said to me, ‘You’re going to have to go cut this,’” he said. “I think there’s an acute understanding that they don’t know our business.”
