As so-called justice reform restrictions and defunding leave law enforcement departments in turmoil, more officers around the country believe that Joe Biden and the Democrat Party have turned their backs on them.
“I would say that most police officers don’t believe that Joe Biden is on their side,” Joe Gamaldi, national vice president of the Fraternal Order of Police, told Just the News.
Additionally, they blamed rising crime rates on left-leaning national and local policies. Gamaldi added that “blue-ran cities’ criminal justice policies ultimately harm minority communities the most.
A shocking number of police officers have retired or left the force as a result of the Left’s “Defund the Police” movement. “Unless we stop that from happening, we’re really going to have an issue going forward,” warned Sergeant Rich Cibotti of the San Francisco police academy.”
For currently employed police officers, the consequent manpower shortages have brought forth new difficulties. Burnout among police officers is at an all-time high. When cops are forced to patrol alone due to shortages, more of them are also being ambushed.
Democrats continue to place a high priority on the Defund the Police movement.
Even though she moved to Harlem because of its high crime rate, Yuh-Line Niou, a Democrat running for a congressional seat in Manhattan, supports large cuts to police funding.
The Biden administration has also maintained close relationships with leaders in the Defund the Police movement. Over the past year, several of the movement’s most significant leaders have paid numerous visits to the White House. The movement is also supported by one of Biden’s EPA candidates.
Brett Tolman, a former federal prosecutor, has expressed grave worries over the Left’s anti-police ideologies.
Referring to Chicago‘s rule that bars police from chasing most suspects, Tolman said, “We’ve developed policies that have sent a message that certain crime is okay.”
Additionally, he charged them with lying about their proposed criminal justice reforms.
“It’s not really reform. What it is is incompetence, and it is neglect, and bad decision making and exercising their prosecutorial discretion inappropriately,” Tolman added.
