Joe Biden is considering demolishing Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas where the shooting took place to construct a new campus in its place, State Sen. Roland Gutierrez said.
After the horrific shooting in an elementary school in Texas that killed 19 students and two teachers, Biden is considering demolishing Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas where the shooting took place and constructing a new campus.
Biden told Democratic Texas State Senator Roland Gutierrez that he was considering offering the community federal cash to “raze” and rebuild the school to assist the community recover from last Tuesday’s mass killing. Gutierrez stated that he can’t tell how many small children he has spoken to that don’t want to enter that building.
Biden told Gutierrez on Sunday that he is not going away and that he will bring resources, “We’re going to look to raze that school, build a new one.”
Here’s what Biden wrote on Twitter, “To everyone impacted by the horrific elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas: We grieve with you. We pray with you. We stand with you. And we’re committed to turning this pain into action.”
Biden arrived in Uvalde to meet with the families of the shooting victims on Sunday.
During a press conference of Governor Greg Abbott on Friday, Gutierrez interrupted and demanded that he call a special session of the Texas Legislature to address the shooting.
Here’s what Gutierrez said during the question portion of the press conference, “My colleagues are asking for a special session. You’re getting a letter tomorrow. We’ve asked for gun control changes. I’m asking you now to bring us back in three weeks.”
Texans are pissed off. These made-for-TV press conferences are not enough. I am demanding @GregAbbott_TX send us back to Austin for a special session on guns. It’s time for action. #GunSafetyNow #DemandSpecialSession #BringUsBack #Uvalde #txlege pic.twitter.com/P6Cx4zo0D0
