A Fan Thought It Was A Good Idea To Charge The Field. Then Karma Hit Her….

Well, this wasn’t your run-of-the-mill fan-runs-on-the-field incident because this is just an embarrassing moment.

On Sunday AEST, a video of a female pitch invader being tackled by security staff at an MLS match in Nashville went viral.

With GEODIS Park battered by wild weather over the weekend, the 2-2 draw between Nashville and Atlanta United was marred by a lengthy rain delay.

One overzealous fan saw this as an opportunity to make a name for herself, jumping the fence and dodging a few staff members before being tackled by security.

As she was running and dodging she quickly learned that stupid games have stupid prizes.

The video shows two security guards pursuing the pitch invader before one cuts her off from a different angle.

As always, if you play stupid games long enough, you will eventually win stupid prizes. That’s just a fact, and this woman learned that the hard way.

The security guard in question looked to have used some pretty excessive force as he rocked the invader to the ground, as she appeared to hit pretty hard.

If you jump on the field during a sporting event and security catches you, don’t be surprised if they light you up.

Well, pitch invasions are nothing new; they’ve been happening for decades and usually involve idiots going too far. But in recent months, the general mood when they happen has become increasingly bleak.

When a pitch invasion is about to happen, it’s always obvious. Fans make their way to the front of the stand in anticipation of the final whistle (well, sometimes even before that). It occurs as the referee calls the game to a close.

For most, the opportunity to do a handstand on the pitch, take a piece of grass home to put in the bin at a later date, or – always enjoyably – do a knee-slide is the main goal.

However, pitch invasions are difficult to stop. It’s difficult for the club, the league, the stewards, fellow fans, and everyone else involved. That is true.

However, something must be done and Fans should realize that there is nothing new about pitch invasions other than it occurs in nothing but danger. Fans should respect gameplay, just stay in their seats and just enjoy the action.
