They Took One Look At ‘Michelle Obama’ And IMMEDIATELY Pitched A Fit!

Davis is being criticized by woke supporters of Michelle Obama for her “constant duck face” and “insulting” portrayal of the trailblazing political spouse.

Davis portrays the former First Lady in Showtime’s new miniseries, which also stars Michelle Pfeiffer as Betty Ford, wife of President Gerald Ford, and Gillian Anderson as Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The 10-episode series is described by the network as a “revelatory reframing of American leadership through the lens of the First Ladies, delving deep into their personal and political lives.”

The series, which premiered on Sunday, has gotten a lukewarm reception from critics so far.

Many people have remarked on their striking facial expressions of Davis, Twitter users have begun sharing brief video clips of Davis speaking in character as her lips pursed.

Davis can be seen pursing her lips both open and closed in the video and images, which only reflect a few seconds of the real performance.

Because of the performance, one user stated that she would not be watching the series.

“Your exaggerated lip pursing may parodize the show,” wrote one user.

Some said they found the performance offensive.

“I strongly recommend subsequent episodes are urgently revised & you rely on your natural intuitive tendencies.”

“At the very least I’d think her lips thing was unnecessary and boarder line insulting.”

“If I were Michelle Obama I’d be offended by Viola Davis,” said one user.

“You’re a phenomenal actress. Just stop doing your mouth like that,” another tweeted. “It’s a good show so far tho. But please stop doing our First Lady like that with your lips.”

“Michelle Obama did not purse her lips THAT much. What possessed Viola to think she should do that in every scene. I never thought I would see the day where Viola Davis gave a bad performance.”

Following incredulous tweets emerged as Davis portrays the character, huge fans of Viola Davis were coming to the defense of the Oscar winner Monday.

One user wrote, “Michelle Obama appears to have an anterior open bite that Viola Davis is trying to replicate in her performance along with how she purses her lips. Both women are beyond gorgeous, brilliant, and amazing so leave them alone. Please and thank you.”

Another user tweeted, “We must protect Viola Davis. We cannot allow another Black woman to be attacked by social media. Also, her portrayal of Michelle Obama is hilarious. I love both ladies.”

“Viola is such a great actress she doesn’t have to look a thing like the person she is playing. She could play a parakeet and just walk in to set on her friday jeans and I’d forget it was her. I’d believe it was the parakeet the entire time,” one commenter wrote. “She really is the heart and soul of acting, and a magnificently wonderful person to boot.”

“Viola did NOT have to go this hard at embodying Michelle, but she did. . .and I’m here for EVERY TIGHT LIP PURSING FILLED MOMENT,” another commenter wrote.

On Sunday, Davis used her Twitter and Instagram accounts to promote the series premiere, however, Michelle, who has a production deal with Netflix alongside former President Barack Obama, remained silent on the subject.
