A Seattle elementary school has canceled their annual Pumpkin Parade this Halloween due to one of the worst reasons ever. Simply put, they decided to take this course of action because the Pumpkin Parade “marginalizes students of color who don’t celebrate the holiday.”
The “Racial Equity Team” was hard at work at Benjamin Elementary school in Seattle as they were successful in canceling the parade, saying that student cannot dress up in costumes this for this year’s activities.
Instead, the children are going to be doing such things as participating in “inclusive” events such as the “thematic units of study about the fall” and gazing at “autumnal artwork,” according to the New York Post.
“There are numerous community and neighborhood events where students and families who wish to can celebrate Halloween,” a Seattle Public Schools spokeswoman said in her statement given to KTTH Radio talk show host Jason Rantz. “Historically, the Pumpkin Parade marginalizes students of color who do not celebrate the holiday. Specifically, these students have requested to be isolated on campus while the event took place.”
“In alliance with SPS’s unwavering commitment to students of color, specifically African American males, the staff is committed to supplanting the Pumpkin Parade with more inclusive and educational opportunities during the school day,” the statement said.
School principal Stanley Jaskot gave the confirmation to Fox News that the elementary school’s pumpkin parade had indeed been canceled. Your tax dollars at work here, folks. Gotta start indoctrinating the kids early, that is for sure.
