Del Rio Mayor Bruno Lozano is not only a Democrat, but he’s also a Democrat that has taken aim at President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris over their muted response to the migrant crisis that is occurring throughout the state of Texas and in his small Texas town in particular.
What Did Lozano Say?
Lozano made his comments after Biden tweeted that he had promised not to raise taxes on Americans who earn less than $400,000 a year. Lozano told him, “Where is your plan to protect American communities at the southern border? I spoke to Governor Abbott today. We have developed a temporary plan, we’d like to see yours.”
“The President has a plan for taxes. Where is the plan to protect our southern border?” Lozano added.
Responding to a video that Harris had posted on her Twitter account showing her attending a college football game between Howard University and Hampton University on Saturday, Lozano told her, “We need you to visit Del Rio, Texas.” But oh yeah, that’s right, Kamala’s strategy for dealing with the border is to simply just ignore it. Lozano included an aerial photo of a massive migrant encampment under the Del Rio International Bridge.
Mayor Lozano also responded to another Harris tweet in which she said that the U.S. is “falling behind…on investing in childcare,” in which he wrote, “The U.S. is failing to protect its borders. Why aren’t you here?”
“The VP is able to visit the fun events across the country, while American communities continue to grapple with failed immigration reform,” Lozano added. “Where is the visit to Del Rio, TX?”
There was a Facebook video that updated Del Rio residents regarding the ongoing crisis. Lozano explained Saturday that he and Governor Greg Abbott were deploying Texas law enforcement officials to ensure that the area where the migrants have encamped was secure.
Abbott reportedly deployed approximately 1,000 Texas law enforcement personnel to assist with the security operations in the Del Rio area. Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin described the law enforcement presence being halted and the illegal crossing being slowed significantly near the Rio Grande river.
The Biden Administration is expected to begin repatriating these migrants, and most of them are from Haiti. These migrants allegedly were part of a caravan that had originated in Panama just a few weeks ago.
