Chase Bank Has Totally Backtracked On Cancelling General Flynn!
On Tuesday, Chase Bank told another right-wing publication that they were apologizing for the credit card cancellation that they were sending to retired Gen. Michael Flynn, the former national security adviser under former President Trump. Flynn made the announcement on his Telegram social media post last Sunday.
Chase’s August 20th reads in part: “we have decided to close your credit cards on September 18, 2021 because we think that continuing to have this relationship with you would create a possible reputational risk to our company.”
However, Chase Bank backed off fairly quickly after a severe backlash where they told The Blaze that they had “made an error” in regards to this cancellation letter.
Flynn went even further in his criticisms of Chase Bank, posting a picture of his Chase letter with the addressee section blotted out, and it was accompanied with a stinging rebuke of the financial giant:
“Chase Bank has gone full blown woke!” Flynn wrote. “They need to deal with their own reputation instead of persecuting my family and I. The Department of Justice dropped my case for their own egregious government misconduct, appears you weren’t that lucky with the DOJ. I guess my America First political views don’t align with yours. Your loss.”
When Flynn made a reference to Chase’s “own reputation”, he most likely was referring to the DOJ press release link he right after that message where it stated that “JPMorgan Chase and Co. Agrees To Pay $920 Million in Connection with Schemes to Defraud Precious Metals and U.S. Treasuries Markets.”
It was Monday that The Blaze pressed Chase Bank for comment and they declined to do so. However, they reversed course a few days later, and issued a full, albeit very bizarre, apology to General Flynn.
Her?
The statement from the Chase spokesperson read: “We’ve contacted our customer to let her know that we made an error and apologized for any inconvenience this caused.” This all begs the question, if General Flynn complained about the credit card cancellation letter, then just who was the “her” that Chase was referring to? Chase would not comment on that, but we definitely can glean some clues.
Interestingly enough, in Flynn’s retort to Chase he never claims that the letter had been sent to him personally. He simply castigates them for “persecuting my family and I.”
When you consider that the name was blacked out, it only adds to the mystery. However, when you magnify the image, it becomes increasingly clear that the first letter of the first name in the blacked-out name does not appear to correspond to a “Mike” or “Michael.” Moreover, The Blaze media outlet asked Chase bank to comment on whether the letter was directed to Lori and not Mike, but they are cowering and refusing to comment.
Flynn sent the following message Monday to his 282,000 Telegram followers:
“I want to sincerely thank everyone for your unwavering support for my family and I over this Chase Bank cancel culture nonsense,” he wrote. “We’ll fight through it like everything else we’ve experienced these past six years. If Chase had any commonsense and gave serious thought to the current environment, instead of attacking my family because of our differing political views, they should immediately create a fund for the recently and tragically killed service members and those family members left behind. Chase bank probably doesn’t understand what the term Gold Star means but it is an unimaginably difficult time for the family members of those left behind. My family and I are blessed because we are alive and have each other. I pray Chase Bank and all their cancel culture partners think twice about what they are doing to destroy the fabric of our constitution. Trust me, the heart and soul of America will NEVER be broken. We the people will prevail.”
Anything else?
Flynn had pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI over the conversations he had with a Russian envoy, but soon after that he withdrew his guilty plea and insisted upon his innocence after his new legal team produced some evidence that seemed to suggest that he had been targeted. Finally, President Trump gave Flynn a full pardon last November.
In December 2020, District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan – who had been presiding over the criminal case against Flynn – went ahead and dismissed the case while emphasizing that Trump’s pardon doesn’t necessarily mean that Flynn is innocent.
This past March, General Flynn’s brother, John “Jack” Flynn, filed a $75 million defamation lawsuit against CNN after the cable network accused him and his wife of being supporters of the QAnon movement.
