The White House now has some damage control to do, because apparently this incompetent President Joe Biden that we all know and love never actually bothered to call other leaders in order to discuss his disastrous attempt at an exit from Afghanistan.
In a rare move, the French are now releasing a readout of a call between French President Emmanuel Macron and Joe Biden where Macron ended up lecturing him on the “moral responsibility” that both the United States and France have to pull out of Afghanistan in an organized and responsible fashion last Thursday.
Breitbart News was the first to break the story on the call between Macron and Biden: “The head of state (of France) emphasized our collective moral responsibility toward the Afghan men and women who need our protection and share our values,” it read. Macron was also quoted as saying that “we cannot abandon them.”
On the other hand, the United States readout of the call did not include similar rhetoric, but both leaders did underscore the “importance of continued close coordination among allies and democratic partners in Afghanistan” and the importance of “humanitarian assistance and support for refugees.”
This call readout is very interesting due to the fact that these messages usually err on the side of diplomacy, so for Macron to include that pointed message to Biden demonstrates that it was an INTENTIONAL effort for him to separate himself from the American narrative on Afghanistan. Moreover, when you consider the fact that some of these European leaders are so liberal that they would make Bernie Sanders seem like Ronald Reagan, it really underscores the fact that yes, Biden blew it big-time. When even the French are getting on his case, it truly is a debacle.
Biden is still trying to put lipstick on a pig here because he said that he has “seen no question of our credibility from our allies around the world.” That doesn’t change the fact that there has been significant criticism from prominent political voices in Europe.
Armin Laschet is a leader in Germany who is the most likely individual to replace the outgoing Angela Merkel, and he called Biden’s failure “the greatest debacle that NATO has seen since its foundation, and it is an epochal change that we are facing.”
Former British Prime Minister Theresa May also questioned Biden’s management of the Afghan pullout.
“What does it say about NATO if we are entirely dependent on a unilateral decision taken by the United States?” she said, adding, “Did we feel we just had to follow the United States and hope that on a wing and a prayer it’d be all right on the night?”
Interestingly enough, 100 Percent Fed Up, which is one of our fellow publications, reported that former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who also sent British troops to Afghanistan twenty years ago, called Biden’s decision “imbecilic.”
While Biden continues to fumble, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is showing him up, calling on G7 leaders from around the world to do the job that feckless Joe Biden is incapable of doing.
This morning, Prime Minister Johnson tweeted: “I am going to convene G7 leaders on Tuesday for urgent talks on the situation in Afghanistan. It is vital for the international community that we work together to ensure safe evacuations, prevent a humanitarian crisis, and support the Afghan people so that we can continue to secure the gains of the last 20 years.”
