It looks like the Biden Administration continues to want to play the blame game when it comes to their actions (or lack thereof) when it comes to the Taliban in Afghanistan. They think that they have a track record that is so much better than the previous administration, but let’s look NOT at what Trump did in regards to the Taliban, but at what Obama (Biden’s former boss) did when it came to the Taliban:
March 2009: Barack Obama reached out to the Taliban in an effort to start peace talks.
At the time, Joe Biden told reporters that “only 5% of the Taliban is incorrigible.”
August 2010: Barack Obama removes the Taliban from the national terror list.
May 2012: Barack Obama gave the Taliban terrorists the reward of their own office space in Qatar for peace talks. Moreover, this was the same month that the Taliban bombed Kabul just two hours after the 44th president announced peace talks with them. Not only that, but the Obama Administration even paid for their office!
2013: President Obama secretly releases five of the deadliest Taliban prisoners in exchange for further peace talks.
2014: The Taliban officially releases a statement regarding their “victory” in Afghanistan six years into the presidency of Barack H. Obama.
This is why it is incredibly puzzling that Fox News host Chris Wallace would blame the Trump Administration (?) for the current situation in Afghanistan!
Chris Wallace’s attempts to do this come after years upon years of Obama and Biden appeasing the Taliban, building them an office for peace talks in Qatar, and even releasing their top operatives. What with the Obama/Biden team bending over backward for the Taliban, it would appear to a layman such as myself that THEY were the ones responsible for the current mess in Afghanistan, but I digress.
Fox News’ Chris Wallace continued to press former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on just how much responsibility for the renaissance of the Taliban should lie with the Trump Administration and not Obama.
When Pompeo was asked what he thinks about Biden blaming him and President Trump for the current chaos in Afghanistan, Pompeo snapped back at the current president and his propensity to engage in “pathetic blame-shifting,” arguing that the insurgency of the Taliban didn’t happen while Trump was the president.
“Every president confronts challenges,” he said during his Fox interview “This president confronted a challenge in Afghanistan, he has utterly failed to protect the American people from this challenge.”
However, this Fox interview didn’t end there. Wallace kept up the disgusting pressure by noting that Pompeo himself had struck up an agreement with the Taliban last year where they would pull out of Afghanistan by next May. Moreover, Wallace also rolled some footage of Trump complaining that it was “ridiculous” that the U.S. continued to have a presence in the region.
Indeed, the ridiculous liberalism of Fox News’s Chris Wallace is truly something to behold.
