From 2017 to the end of 2021, the only thing we heard from the Democrats was how many ties to Russia that President Trump allegedly had. These Democrats never stopped their accusations completely, even though the evidence just wasn’t there.
Fast forward to Joe Biden’s term, and there is now a growing number of people who think that it is Biden, not Trump, who might be the individual who has a hand in Russian affairs. To wit, the most recent pipeline issue has caused the GOP to ask a lot of tough questions.
Apparently, there is now a lobbyist coming forward that worked with foreign partners and helped Joe’s campaign.
If this is true, this could become a serious problem for the Biden team. Just days after the Biden Administration issued a refusal regarding the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, we learned that there were at least of the supporters of the pipeline that donated to Biden’s campaign. Russia ties for Biden indeed!
According to White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, the
U.S. was not imposing sanctions on “four Russian vessels” and “nine other vessels that belonged to Russia.”
However, that didn’t stop the Nord 2 pipeline from being constructed. That is why at least one of the lobbyists would’ve contributed to Biden’s campaign. According to the Daily Wire:
A new report from the Center for Responsive Politics, a non-partisan and independent firm that tracks money in U.S. politics, alleged that a lobbyist for the foreign partners of Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline gave thousands of dollars to President Joe Biden’s campaign and a pro-Biden super PAC.
There is one man who is instrumental in this ill-conceived effort: Richard Burt, who is a former U.S. ambassador and a lobbyist for a litany of foreign companies that have teamed up with Nord Stream on that pipeline.
Just why is Burt so important? What difference does he make?
The man donated a pretty good chunk of money to Biden’s presidential campaign:
Burt donated $2,000 to Biden’s 2020 campaign and $10,000 to pro-Biden super PAC Unite the Country while he was a registered lobbyist for foreign companies partnering with Nord Stream on the pipeline.
Biden’s campaign had not refunded Burt’s money at the time of publication, more than 6 months after the donations were given, despite pledging to reject lobbyist donations.
To say that the timing of this news isn’t good for the Biden Administration would be an understatement.
There are a bevy of critics who are jumping all over the Biden Administration for allowing the Nord Stream to continue, especially when you consider that this is the same administration that shut down the full-fledged American Keystone Pipeline XL.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has also been quoted as saying:
“President Biden shuts down American pipelines, yet he green lights Russian pipelines.
Meanwhile, drivers pay more at the pump for the privilege of depending on foreign oil. This is what it looks like to put America last.”
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) also commented that “Biden is very active in helping Putin and the rest of Russia build their pipeline, and I guess that means that we have the most pro-Russian administration of the modern era.”
Indeed, I have to agree with Senator Cruz. If Biden had been in power when the Russians had launched Sputnik, I’m sure the space race of the 1960s would have been a different story.
