Senator Mitt Romney (R-Utah) continues to see himself in a world of hurt because of his Rino type of behavior. During a recent appearance, he took to the stage at the Utah Republican party’s Convention. However, there were some hecklers who were simply not having it. They called Romney a communist, a traitor, and a litany of other things, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
Romney has distinguished himself for all the wrong reasons within the Republican party. For example, he is one of the most ardent GOP critics of former President Donald Trump, and that is why he appeared before 2145 registered delegates at the Maverik Center near Salt Lake City in the suburb of West Valley City. However, if he was looking for verification of his views, it wasn’t going to happen here. As Mitch walked up to the lectern, he started speaking but he was booed very loudly by the GOP faithful. Yes, there were some cheers for the former GOP nominee as well, but the jeers almost drowned them out according to some of the videos that were posted online.
Rhino that he is, Romney tried his best to appease the hostile crowd, after questions such as, “What is it you think about President Biden’s first 100 days in office?” to the crowd.
“Naturally, you should know me as a person who says what is on my mind and I do not hide the fact that I haven’t been a fan of our last president’s character issues, ” Romney told the audience to even more tremendous boos.
Romney continues to try to defend his position, saying to the group, “aren’t you embarrassed?” he asked. However, even with Romney’s rhetorical question the booing still continued for over a minute, until Utah GOP chair Brown intervened, walking up to the stage, saying, calling “You see, my friends, this moment is exactly what I’m talking about, would you please show respect?” Desiring to appease Mr. Brown, the crowd proceeded to applaud and they allowed Romney to go back to delivering his speech at this Utah GOP event. Apparently, this crowd of Utah senators likes Mr. Brown better than their own senator, but I digress!
Of course, it was also during this convention that the Utah Republican party decided to vote to censure Romney for his boat to convect Trump over the January 6th capital rioting. However, Romney escaped an official sensor by a boat of 798 to 711. The Rino gets to live another day!
The fact that Mitt Romney is not up for the next election in 2022 definitely helps him. However, fellow GOP critic and Romney colleague Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska is indeed up for her own election in 2022. The Alaska Republican Party is doing their best to hold Murkowski accountable for voting to convict President during his second impeachent trial held during his last couple months in office.
