Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan continues to suffer a mountain of setbacks due to her severe mismanagement of the COVID-19 crisis. Because of this, there is a fairly decent chance that she might get shown the door in the next election. Politico and the Detroit Free Press reported last Thursday that Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna (Romney) McDaniel is seriously considering resigning her post in order to challenge Whitmer in the next gubernatorial election. The Witch Empress with two Governor’s Mansions is going to have a contest on her hands!
Whitmer, A.K.A. The Tyrant of the Peninsulas is Vulnerable
McDaniel has always stood at the forefront of the logistical machine for the GOP throughout the Trump Administration. Additionally, she realizes that she will have a tremendous financial backing if she decides to enter the race. She has spent over ten years cultivating and building relationships with many of the best GOP donors. Meanwhile, she was able to steer clear of some of President Trump’s worst controversies, instead emerging from the fracas nearly squeaky-clean. Of course, that would mean nothing if she hadn’t retained the loyalty of President Trump, but she managed to do just that. Indeed, he even endorsed McDaniel’s third term for the Chair and she won unapposed.
Simply put, a woman like McDaniel has the people skills to perform this delicate balancing act, and that would make her Governor Witch-mer’s worst nightmare.
“The GOP continues to view Whitmer as a top target for 2022,” a spokesperson said. “Critics continue to hammer her for being hypocritical about her stringent coronavirus guidelines. She traveled to Florida to visit her elderly father, yet she puts travel restrictions on other Michigan residents? This is why her approval rating continues to slip.”
Indeed, Chairwoman McDaniel also has plenty of time to decide if she wants to enter the race. The deadline to file is still nearly a year away. Of course, she may have opposition in her own party, including former veteran John James, who has run unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate in 2018 and 2020. Naturally, the only challenge she might face comes from her reviled RINO uncle, one Utah Senator Mitt Romney. John James could use that to his advantage. However, either way, the main thing is that Governor Witch-mer is very, very vulnerable.
