Sometimes, if you allow someone to walk all over you, they will do it again and again. Or, if they don’t walk all over you, they will expect you to do the same thing for them and get mad when you don’t.
I have a relative who about fifteen or so years ago we lived in the same town. I worked for a company that they used to work for, and every payday would ask me if they could borrow a hundred dollars that they would then give back to me three days later. It was annoying and when I couldn’t do it they would get angry.

A heavy blue district in the suburbs of Chicago has caved to the far-left radical Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement’s demands. Using tax money from recreational marijuana sales, Evanston, Illinois, “has become the first U.S. city to make reparations available to its Black residents for past discrimination and the lingering effects of slavery,” according to local news outlet KHOU.
In an 8-1 vote on March 22, the Evanston City Council chose to begin the distribution of $10 million over the next 10 years to eligible black households. Each household is going to receive $25,000 to be used for home repairs, down payments on property, or interest/late penalties on property within the city.
Alongside revenue from marijuana sales, private donations will make up $21,340 of the funds set aside for reparations.
KHOU reported on the requirements to receive the money, writing: “Qualifying residents must either have lived in or been a direct descendant of a Black person who lived in Evanston between 1919 to 1969, or that person’s direct descendant, who suffered discrimination in housing because of city ordinances, policies or practices. Also, residents who also experienced discrimination due to the city’s policies or practices after 1969 can qualify.”
Taxpayers are livid, though most aren’t expressing their anger publicly for fear of backlash from the radical far left that dominates the cultural debate. The idea that people who never held slaves are being forced to pay taxes to give reparations to people who never were slaves is absolutely ridiculous.
Yet, Democrats and their allies in the mainstream media have been pushing this policy for years, without regard for the economic impact it would have on the country.
