When I was in my teens, my dad and I were on this long car ride that went on for several hundred miles. He used this situation as a good point in time to give out some advice that I still follow to this day.
One of them was to never let anyone in a service industry of any kind know what your political views were. He told me that you might have a server at a diner spit in your food because of how you voted for, or you might have a doctor that wants to give you a hard time somehow because they don’t agree with you politically.
That scared the hell out of me. As strange as it sounds, there are people out there in the medical field that will leave you twisting in the wind due to a difference in political opinion.
A well-known emergency doctor who has been promoted by the Biden White House said Thursday that folks who did not wear masks to a market in Florida should be denied vaccinations against COVID-19, adding, “Let ’em die.”
In a now-deleted post, Dr. Cleavon Gilman captioned a video of the maskless Florida market-goers: “Naples, Florida. Let ’em die. I’m so tired of these people. No vaccine for y’all.”
“I’m working in the COVID ICU tonight! I’m so tired of giving 200% while others in the U.S. can’t even help by simply wearing a mask!” Gilman wrote in a follow-up post, adding, “My spirits are high. We’ll get through this pandemic together. I’ll keep doing my part until we’re all vaccinated.”
After taking heat for his initial and now-deleted post, the doctor claimed that “Republicans” were taking him out of context.
“Republicans trying to take my words out of context as if I deny medical care to people that don’t wear masks & ‘let ’em die,’” he said. “My point is that we can’t waste our energy on these COVID deniers. They are not gonna protect themselves so let ’em die. They’ll find out the hard way.”
The Blaze noted Thursday that the doctor, who claims to be “fighting for social justice and humanity,” has been praised by the official Biden White House Twitter account.
“We are thankful to Dr. Gilman and all the inspiring frontline workers who risk their lives to protect us during this pandemic,” the post said. “We promise you this: You have a partner in the Biden-Harris administration.”
As reported by The Daily Wire’s Ashe Schow, the video Gilman was reacting to was promoted by CNBC host Shepard Smith.
