You have to admire it when people are willing to resign from something when they don’t believe in what they are doing or if they feel what they are doing is unsafe, or could even hurt someone.
I remember many years ago, I worked at this food processing facility and would stand on the little production line where they would have water spraying over some very, VERY hot peppers. The juice would get into people’s eyes and they would tell me how bad it hurt.
So, I spent some time in some of these positions and would and walked away feeling like I had been maced. I told the higher-ups that we needed to get some safety goggles, which as it turns out they were supposed to have already. For some reason, I was told no. I walked out. I resigned from my management position.
A few weeks later, one of the employees had a family member that worked for the state that called in the safety people. The point is, don’t do something if you don’t believe that what you are doing is right.
According to a report released by the New York Times on February 2, highly regarded health officials have been resigning steadily over the last six months due to Governor Andrew Cuomo‘s handling of New York’s pandemic policy.
Nine health officials have resigned so far, which include the New York State Health Department deputy commissioner for public health and the medical director in the state’s division of epidemiology. These officials span various departments and bureaus throughout New York.
What are these people citing as their reasoning behind resigning? According to the New York Times, it was Governor Cuomo’s handling of COVID. The final straw for many of these health officials was the massive failure of the vaccine rollout in New York City, as the governor has allegedly refused to rely on medical expertise and advice provided by health officials, and has instead created his own plan.
This news comes just days after Cuomo held a press conference where he stated that he didn’t trust state health officials.
“When I say ‘experts’ in air quotes, it sounds like I’m saying I don’t really trust the experts. Because I don’t. Because I don’t,” he said during a press briefing on Friday.
As usual, Democrats only care about science and experts when it benefits them. Political power is actually the goal behind all of these measures.
According to the New York Times, many health officials only learned of Cuomo’s various pandemic plans during press briefings, and had no say in reopening public spaces or vaccination rollout.
